When I was in middle school, I was having trouble socially and my mother gave me some of the greatest advice I know. The best way to meet new people is to ask them questions. You won't be selfish and talking about yourself, it makes you seem interested, and you learn a lot about the other person. If they ask questions back, then a friendship may form. If they don't, then they are either busy, or do not care to be your friend and if they don't care, then forget about them. You tried and they aren't worth your time anyway
