My grandfather told me on my wedding day "Son, never hit your wife because it will be easier the second time".

once you get past the "oh i would never hit a woman" initial thought...that's actually really good advice

For every problem under the sun, there is a solution or is there is none. If there be one finds it. If there be none never mind it.

My grandmother says that probably 2 or 3 times a week.

My Great Grandfather, when I was around 9 or 10 years old. He was a successful businessman and a millionaire.

He once told me "Never start a business with your own money, use somebody else's money".

For some reason that stuck with me and makes perfect sense.

My dad told me when I was around 9: The United Nations ain't worth a shite because they don't have an army.

At that point I began accepting the differences between want and need, reality and dream, and the way things are vs. the ways they ought to be.

To this day I'm less inclined than most of y'all to [mistakenly] believe that God's a hippie.

Not advice but my favorite saying from my grandfather: You don't have to do anything but die and you only have to do that once.
