This might be the scariest thing. People actually follow what guys like this say instead of finding the answers themselves.

This is the problem with the political status quo in this country today. The average voter will NOT do the bolded portion, preferring the relatively easy path of being spoonfed whatever talking points from the echo chamber of their choice.

This is the lowest common denominator of the voting public, and politicians know they'd better pander to it in order to gain office. It's a sad state of affairs overall, and is part of the reason I'm far less involved in the political debate than I used to be. Not worth it, IMO.

Amen.

We all get our information filtered to a degree, but it's far too easy to watch your Weasel News echo chamber than really go digging. People gotta work and shite.

It is why more and more I try to look for international sources covering American news. They have their biases too obviously, but it gives a perspective far less tied to political cheerleading for either side.

And for sometimes fun, sometimes good finds...

Did you just bemoan people for the news they use and then hold up a wackjob blogger as a valid source of information? Astounding...

She's sharper than 90% of the people who post on TD.

She wasn't ready for the national spotlight though.

She had a "hit" out on her by Move-on.org long before McCain announced. She's been vindicated in virtually every "controversy" they started. Move-on hired college kids @ $12/hr to dig up dirt on her.

Her Husband and I used to snowmachine in the same group in Big Lake.

Some of what she says is 100% correct, even though the media vilifies her for it. Some of what she says is dumb. She's a good person and doesn't deserve the way the media treated her...it was disgusting the way the media acted. She wasn't VP material imo. But she also isn't an idiot.

If you believe the "correct" things, the media portrays you as smart no matter the evidence to the contrary. Exhibit: Al Gore

The way they attacked her family was a textbook example of media bias.

Like when they had a reality show or one of the kids went on dancing with the stars?

The family invited all the media attention they could get.

I think you may have the timeline of events a little backwards.
