This still doesn't make Obama smart.

I'd respect her more if she was a moron. Her and her ilk make their riches destroying political dialog to nothing more than emotionally driven talking points.

They're selling a product to a population too lazy to know the difference. They don't destroy the political dialog, they fill the vacuum that was left when ignorant bliss became an acceptable way of living.

Accurate description, I think.

Kinda like the last video I posted, folks could tell you who spent what on a dress, but not their political stance. Society relies on their news from places like the Daily Show, SNL and Colbert, because their attention spans are the size of a flea and they have to be entertained to remember anything.

They sell a product to people who politics is nothing more than a game of blue team vs red. The overly emotionally invested.

I see the ignorant bliss crowd as those who watch the news a week before an election to decide who to one for. That's not who Palin is working over, but instead manipulating the negative emotions of people to confirm their biases. I see plenty of otherwise well read and intelligent people get sucked in...Not just the vapid fools.

Are they sucked into that rhetoric, or so turned off by the other side though? As I stated earlier, 2008 was the first election I didn't cast a vote in, since I could vote. I was disgusted with the choices from both sides.

I still believe with his money he could have bought a better team and ran a better campaign

Wouldn't of changed the fact that he is a boob named Mitt.

He would have still made the 47% comment, which is probably what did him in. He didn't have much of a chance before that, but that sealed the deal.

Some of what she says is 100% correct, even though the media vilifies her for it. Some of what she says is dumb.

She's a good person and doesn't deserve the way the media treated her...it was disgusting the way the media acted.

She wasn't VP material imo. But she also isn't an idiot.

Yep. Had a liberal female candidate been subject to the same treatment, there would have been a mass revolt by the media.

Since she is a conservative, they instead led the assault.

It's a bit of both. Being turned off by the other side makes it easier to get sucked into the rhetoric. It's a never ending cycle of political rage.

I see that now with 2008, the choices were terrible. I voted Obama in 2008, because I was 19 and overly optimistic about the world. The resulting six years has made me much more cynical.

Personality trumps everything, including money. The side with more money generally wins because that's who the smart money is paying off for political favors later.

Life experiences and age has everything to do with perspective.

Believe it or not, but I've actually mellowed quite a bit as I've gotten older, and am more moderate than I once was.

A great point. There is none.

Even participating in wars, horrible deficits and overall debt doesn't effect people overall in a real tangible way.

You have to make an effort to be involved and have an opinion and until there's a reason for the average schmo to do so, they won't. They'll need to be entertained to even be slightly informed. Most people seem to be really isolated from the dealings of politics. Even debt, wars, taxes, etc. don't really make much of a difference to the majority of people. At least not enough of a difference to give a shite about them and why things are the way they are.

If there's ever a situation that causes people's quality of life to be changed in a real way I imagine there would be a lot more interest in politics. Until then, it's all just news stories and horrible politics that are best avoided.

I occasionally debate and sometimes troll a younger guy I know. He voted Obama both times and he gets a ton of his talking points from Bill Maher and Jon Stewart. 2 weeks ago, he was so pissed, he walked off calling me a bigot and a freak because of the discussion we had. He calmed down after a few minutes of walking it off. I'm gonna give him about a month off before bringing up another hot topic. (That topic had to do with Sams' coming out).

This might be the scariest thing. People actually follow what guys like this say instead of finding the answers themselves.

Yep. He's a nice guy, but woefully, undereducated on policy and goings on with Gov't. 2 months before the ACA kicked in, I argued with him over how it was going to cost people more. He was like, no it won't more people will have insurance, so they'll pay more. Not understanding that a lot more expense would be incurred, than collected. He's seeing the light on that a little, but won't fully, until the delay kicks in.

except a good camp manager would have had him prepared for that.

I agree duke, you cant buy personality but some acting lessons would have helped.

His team was full of fricking failure and he did horrible picking a vp. Retard joe stomped ryan in a debate by laughing at him
