Will somebody explain the appeal of Applebee's? Every time I go by one, it seems like the parking lot is full. Absolute worst "familyneighborhoodfunpub" chain in the world, yet people go there.

Shogun...
Not sure why I would expect much from a place like that, should have just gone to a place semi authentic.

The ones that are here do "Kids Eat Free" specials all the time. Free food, even shitty food, will tend to do that for some folks.

Fine dining for rednecks and ghetto people

While 90% of the time I try to eat local, I'm not going to act like I've never sat down at IHOP, Texas Roadhouse, Buca di Beppo, or anything like that. And we have local chains that are good like the Bristol, Wild Eggs, etc.
ETA: As far as worst restaurant, we had a small Americanized Chinese place here a few years back that lasted maybe 6 months. It was awful. They managed to frick up Wonton Soup. I didn't think that was possible.

Super Hong Kong was probably the worst.
There are some places you go once and never want to go back.

Same reason why Golden Corral is.
Guess people like bad food. I will say Applebees here is pretty decent though, definitely not the go to restaurant for a inexpensive sit down meal though.

I think the only one of those I have been to is Buca di Bepo when I was a kid. We havent had one for along time though.

Chain Italian family style place. Lots of shite on the walls. I remember it being pretty solid. Not good enough to last I guess.

It's a major italian chain that I think started out of California but is in various places across the US. We have one here and it's good IMO. Everything is family sized portions (if I'm just getting takeout for myself I get a side portion) so we usually order and split up dishes.

Interesting. I guess we have too many local places like that to warrant a chain.
On another note, I didn't realize Taziki's was a chain until like 6 months after it opened.

We have a ton of local places as well. But there's definitely different areas around the city that are more of a "chain" area vs. a local eatery area.
I just don't see anything wrong with eating at a chain restaurant if it's a decent chain. I will concede that the number of quality chains vs. shittastic chains are woefully lopsided though.

I can agree with this. I do enjoy J. Alexanders and places like that.
I've also never been to Rainforest Cafe and from the glowing reviews, I won't.

I was thinking the same. We almost ate there when in Orlando once. Glad to say we didn't.

J Al's is for the most part crap. Those chicken fingers are pretty chronic though.
