Why can't it be both?

Sidebar: The Senate Majority PAC ran an attack ad on the Republican For Senate here for his support of Obamacare. The Dem he's running against voted for it. Takes huge balls.

I only support open borders if we can get rid of the welfare state laden with entitlements everywhere.

Or we can have a massive welfare state laden with entitlements and the border being strictly controlled and regulated and immigrants immediately deported.

Which one is it gonna be? Welfare/socialism and open borders absolutely do not mix at all and always ends in disaster. Every country on earth realizes this. Hell, even socialism ridden Europe understands this and they are intense in protecting their borders.

I have no problem with immigrants, it's the welfare and benefits they come here for that I have a problem with.

ETA: the war on drugs is also a factor that fuels the immigration problem. It needs to end to solve this issue.

The American people aren't going to continue to take forced immigration by the government. We are bringing in people with diseases, criminal elements, and people who have no interest in assimilating into the US culture.

After reading your post it appears you're not "progressing" at all, you need a few days/nights watching MSNBC, CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, etc. The Neocons will lose cheap labor and the Dimmerats will lose a huge voting block if people like you start causing trouble, they don't like your kind.

No, the fact is people who feel their jobs are not threatened by illegal immigrants are the ones not worried about illegal immigration, most of the jobs illegals are doing would be performed by Americans that are currently collecting government checks of some sort if we did not have 10-20 million illegals doing those jobs.

A few things are at work in the illegal immigration thing. One. I don't think states should have income taxes. I really don't think we should have a federal income tax either, but that's not the issue. I think taxes shouldn't be avoidable for illegal immigrants, and sales and property taxes are unavoidable. I think any federal income taxes should be completely outside of the ranges of any migrant workers, but the fact is they are not. I think the biggest, and most valid complaint about undocumented workers is avoiding paying taxes, and while I disagree with the taxes being in place for them that they are even avoiding, the world isn't perfect.

I think Mexico needs to privatize oil. There will be more jobs over there anyway.

Other than that, we can build a wall, or not. It makes no difference to me. Market forces will still be the primary driver for immigration. Only changing those conditions will help the problem. And to me their existence in society isn't the problem. It's just the tax burden. We can also fix that by addressing the things earlier mentioned.

Unfortunately, securing the border and kicking out all the illegals (not even feasible to begin with) would inflate the price of goods and services enough to make it less than worthwhile.

At this point, they are a necessary evil.

The way Washington is handling this problem is akin to having a damn with a giant leak, and wondering what to do with the water that's coming in, rather than fixing the damn first.

Unfortunately, this problem will never get solved. It will just continue unchecked.

Politicians on both sides are worried more about losing votes, rather than solving a major problem like this.

All they really care about is being a career politician, not fixing Americas problems.

I'm not a fan of amnesty, as it will result in a massive amount of people crossing the border. What's happening right now is a result of Washington just discussing amnesty.

There really is only one answer. Build a wall, secure the frick out of the border, end the war on drugs. A secure border and a more prosperous less corrupt Mexico ends the problem.

As far as the ones that are already here, after the border is secure, deal with them as needed. We can all argue about that when the time comes.

Job number 1 should be ending the amnesty discussion and securing the border. Plain and simple.

Some politicians get blamed for not following through on campaigns promises. But here is one that is doing everything he can to keep his promises.
