What a silly thread. Quit anthropomorphizing the animals. They are not human. We have dominion over them. If trophy hunting is sadistic serial murder, then obviously animal farming is absolute slavery. Which is a more cruel and endemic system than a single kill.

While I wouldn't do it, elephants are overpopulated in certain parts of africa.

In some areas in Africa that's probably true, but hunting elephants does nothing but endanger local human populations in future conflicts. Elephants are known to retaliate and remember humans as a threat to be dealt with. Man continues to encroach into the wild with growing population, so more problems result. But be that as it may, I have no problem with people hunting species that are of great abundance in their natural habitat.

Agreed.

And I don't kill snakes either ... not even rattlers, unless they refuse to leave the area or are too close to the dogs and kids.

I've had too many close calls where snakes could have bitten me, in the face for that matter, and they didn't. I owe them the favor in return.

There should be a worldwide ban on trophy hunting and whaling IMHO.

Elephants, ... all African big game mammals for that matter.

One of the biggest big game hunters in the world lives just across the lake from me. He's in the car wash business believe it or not. He's always on the TV hunting shows killing something with a Jarrett Rifle ( Jarrett Rifles), which are made a couple of miles from here. He's a little-dick midget who does it to make himself feel like a big man. A punk.

And whaling should be outlawed. Whaling is criminal IMHO.

If I hunt it, I'm gonna eat it and thank the animal for what he gives us in the process. I taught my kids that way and they'll teach their kids that way.

Bears should be left the frick alone too. Unless they are nussance bears , which are usually made so because of our trash and encroaching ....there is no need to hunt bears.

I'm pro hunting. Whitetail, Mulies, Elk, Moose, Caribou, I've hunted them all. Squirrels, rabbits, ducks, quail ... I quit killing doves because it got too easy. I even downed a buffalo, killed him dead, from 400 meters with a Marlin 1895 in 45/70 one time, with a pill I cast myself, and loaded. It wasn't an easy shot and it wasn't an easy stalk ... it took some skill. That hide is a prize thing for me ... and we've still got buffalo in the freezer. Best meat ever - except for moose and maybe elk. I like caribou too.

Just killed some coyotes the other night. Killed a big pig a couple of weeks ago and fed him to the dogs. The pigs and the yotes are getting out of hand.

But killing for trophies is wrong IMHO. Screw the African economy argument.

I'd be all for hunting assholes though. Big game trophy hunters ... they are assholes.

I don't do that at all. I don't even like dogs, but that doesn't mean I think its ok to shoot them for sport.

It just seems like a dick move to travel to Africa to shoot a zebra or a giraffe. Beautiful animals.

Provided there is a sport to it and they are edible.

Zebras - frick no. They've got enough problems with the crocs and the hyenas and lions.

Why kill a rhino?

Kill all the crocs and hyenas you want ... frick them.

Water buffalo ... sure. Eat'em too.

Antelope, ditto.

Lions and tigers and bears oh my ... frick no.

Elephants and whales. Any human being that murders elephants and whales should be put to the woods and hunted themselves.

I've been to bull fights too. Bull fricking fighting should be outlawed.

I liked the solution to all of this in Childhood's End. I doubt any of you kids have read that book.
