Nashville is cool. I could see myself at the Station Inn on a regular basis.

For living I think I'd prefer Chattanooga.

Damn, really?

Chattanooga ain't the first or 7th place I'd choose to live. I spent 10 consecutive summers there and I thought it could use improvement. Although, it was more in the Rossville/Ft. Oglethorpe area.

There is no question in my mind that Nashville has replaced Memphis as the premier city in TN.

Nashville has absolutely surpassed Memphis as the premier city in Tennessee. I don't think anyone, including the Memphis mayor, can say differently with a straight face.

Nashville's a pretty good place. I could hang my hat here for the rest of my life, but I also wouldn't kick and scream if were to move elsewhere.

Chattanooga is another cool Tennessee town that is experiencing a nice resurgence as well.

Chattanooga, Knoxville, Nashville, Murfreesboro, Clarksville, Johnson City/Tri Cities are all cities in TN doing really well right now and getting better by the day.

Ehh...I want nothing to do with Montgomery (and Robertson for that matter) county.

I'd say Columbia/Spring Hill is growing a lot as well. Memphis is an anomaly to me. It is the one city in Tennessee that sticks out like a sore thumb. The city looks very run down and decrepit. The infrastructure sucked and the town has litter, graffiti, and overgrowth everywhere. Every other spot in Tennessee (Union City, Jackson, Nashville, Cookeville, Chattanooga, Knoxville, Johnson City, Bristol, etc) looks substantially cleaner and well kept.

Memphis fits more into Mississippi, Arkansas, or Louisiana than Tennessee imo.

You know what they say...if the Mississippi changed course and Memphis moved west and became a part of Arkansas instead of Tennessee, both states would improve dramatically in IQ and property values.

I'm not one of these Middle Tennessee guys that just absolutely shits on Memphis. Anytown built off Blues and BBQ is just alright with me.

Unlike Nashville, Memphis' does have an authentic, ingrained culture and identity. It just surprises me how much it differs from the rest of the state.

Most of it's history.. it hasn't been until the last decade that Nashville has definitely jumped Memphis imo anyways

If you think that is impressive, then you should look up the time lapse of Austin.

what's not impressive is how little Austin has done to fix the transportation issues to get to downtown.

hell on earth is having to be between the 290s from 6-10 AM or 3-9 PM

I have a cousin who has lived in Nashville for 14 years now. I usually go up to see him and we'll catch a few shows.

Nashville is awesome.

Agreed. Grew up and live in Nashville, went to UT, and visit Memphis regularly. Just got back from there in fact (music festival this past weekend) and had an incredible time. All of Tennessee is awesome.

Memphis has some great aspects, such as Memphis in May, Beale, grizzlies, etc.

but overall, it's quite the crime ridden shithole. It's growth is stagnant as well. They really need to do something.

Love Nashville tho.

I also love this little sports rivalry heating up. First between Rams and Titans, now Preds and Blues. Starting next year STLFC and Nashville SC could have something beautiful. Very underrated section of the US: STL, Indy, Louisville, Nashville.

Maybe I'm biased since I grew up around Memphis but it's never been a contest to me, Nashville always much, much better

Love Chattanooga too. Nice to see a city embrace in becoming a tech town and adding fiber optic networks.
