It doesn't matter, it was just a suggestion. Just because the board is slow doesn't mean every slightly interesting thing you see should have its own thread.
A good place for that information or discussion would be the IM threads or those daily threads Belle starts.
As for why it might matter, this is a pretty strong analogy but are you familiar with Huxley's book A Brave New World? The idea that an overload of trivial information would make us uncaring about the actual important information. (that is the general dumbed down idea)
