So then why take a shot a Republicans now?

He's one who claims to be Republican, but posts nothing but anti Republican BS and takes shots wherever he can.

The usual disclaimer "I voted for Bush twice" has come from him several times.

I agree though the republicans full on rage mode hurts them in a case where rage is the proper thing.

It's hard to take seriously. Is this Benghazi level rage? Fast and Furious? IRS? Other manufactured scandal?

What's sad is I'm probably going to get a couple responses citing times the Dems did something similar, like I care. I hate how the "other guy does it to" becomes justification for hypocritical and childish behavior by either side. Better to keep us all divided I suppose.

I hate politicians. Their veteran status doesn't factor into this equation.

I've never claimed to presently be a republican, and I only voted for bush once in 2000. I once considered myself one over 10 years ago.

The problem is systematic, the party is irrelevant. Extreme loyalty to either party or hatred of the other is a sure sign of a low political IQ.

I'm still regularly dumbfounded by otherwise intelligent people getting so emotionally invested in one party or the other. I see a broken system that yields broken policy after broken policy. It's ok though, because the Republicans did stupid stuff too...

I'm 25 and still learning how the world works, but it all looks crazy and broken beyond repair. Someone give me a little hope...

I was solid Republican in my late teens, more leaning Democrat in my mid 20's, swung back to Republican. I've been much more Libertarian the past 10-15 years or so.

Bush-Obama should have convinced everyone that it really doesn't matter on the national level who you elect. Politicians talk down to the ignorant voter an love to use divisive rhetoric, but deep inside the powers that be have no motive to change the system. So, you get the same assembly no matter what pieces you plug in.

Yeah, great job with the hope there...

I see exactly what you're saying. The money is too good for anyone in the system to want to shake things up. They don't have to either, because on average we don't care. Either walk around in total Ignorance of the world, or beholden to beating the other guy.

I'm far more involved in the State and local politics today than I am national. It's too frustrating, my vote doesn't matter and neither does my voice. Better to focus on areas where I can actually see change.

It doesn't help that you're basically encouraged to scam the system before you EAS.

Which is the entire premise of this OP.

As am I. Do I lean hard conservative? Absolutely. But that doesn't invest me into the R party with blind loyalty. Plenty has happened under Bush and the current "leadership", that pisses me off and wants a whole hell of a lot of them gone, including the 2 Senators for our state who will likely be 2 of the most powerful when the R's take the Senate this midterm. They've done enough for me to despise their politics and same old game playing that I will vote against them in the primary. I know it's for naught, though.

Sadly, I don't believe there is any left to be had, in a legitimate way anymore. And I'm serious with that statement. I truly believe this country has seen it's best days.

The US of A has died. This generation is in the unenviable position of sitting around and watching the body cool.

It's truly a global economy and there will be winners and losers. The US will be a loser, but life will not suck. Just will not be as opportunistic as it has been in the past.

Because that'd be overkill. What in the flying frick to you think Obama has to do with any of this? Do you think he himself can monitor the goings on of hundreds of thousands of federal employees?

I'm sure the same consideration is extended to a Republican president when he is in office...

I think we're going to be ok man. Look you and I can disagree in everything under the sun (we often do) but still come away with a civil conversation. There's hope. There's a lot wrong with us in our 20's and 30's but we're a much more tolerant generation than those before us currently.

Not saying we're better, just more open to listening to others. There's some hope in that.

Spleen's ridiculous goalie attempt aside, the majority on here are willing to listen to some civility.
