I'm not bummed at the notion of Cassidy being our senator. He just didn't give me anything to vote for and I'm happy enough with Mary to need a reason to vote the other way.

I wish him the best and hope he's a great Senator for our state.

I find the thought that Mary bringing back the bacon is the fundamental problem with government/people's thoughts toward it. We elect our congressmen to represent us not bring back some shitty port project or something.

This is how it has always been and will continue to be. They represent us in large part to get funding for projects and causes their district/state needs.

The issue for me is the federal government being wasteful within the administration of government. The inefficiency of the largest organization on the planet earth. The formula of spend it or lose in within funding of federal departments. Poor tax policy dedicated to helping the rent seekers with money to pay for beneficial tax breaks. The federal tax base is there to pay for the military, basic social programs (we can debate till the cows come home what that means), and funding for projects to help the states and by virtue the nation. Who better to push for needed programs in the states than those who represent the state?

I've grown up around too many of these pork projects to think they're anymore than bribery and waste. Especially in Louisiana.

I wouldn't vote for the Democrats nominee for Governor or Senate. I'm all about the Libertarians.

I certainly cannot debate that. Any project is going to attract corruption like flies to shite. The problem lies as much within the state as who's bringing the money home. I'd rather some money to do some good than no money at all. If you can figure out how to eliminate corruption from government, I'd vote you POTUS tomorrow and the election is two years away.
