If they are going to kick it old school then they need to rebrand as Kentucky Fried Chicken instead of KFC. YUM owns multiple brands but none use initials over full name except KFC. Show me a TB or PH commercial as I have yet to see one.

I don't see what's so bad about the commercials. Can you explain why they're enraging you?

Imagine if the Hogs ran commercials with a thin Bert stand in instead of the real fat Bert.

Food, Politics, gaming, porn, etc. all work about the same way. You engage somebody emotionally, you get their wallet too.
I remember a few years ago when PC gaming was still bigger than console gaming. Our son got seriously pissed at microsoft because the new version of Excel wouldnt run well on his old computer. Then he buys a new game and decides to go buy a new 1500.00 computer because it wont run the 55 dollar game.
He obviously REALLY wanted to run the game. frick Microsofts obviously productive program. No emotion. No money.

Well Bert is still alive so that would be different.

You are so miserable. How you got any guy to marry you is quite the feat.

And kywildcat, they are awful. It may have people talking about KFC but there's about 3-4 better chain options and a ton of local options better than any fried chicken they put out these days. That's their problem and they're too dumb to realize it.

Spot on. They suck compared to damn near any other chicken joint. Pepsi bought them, and has since put out an inferior product. So unless there isn't any competition, they will continue to shrink as a company.

Actually true. Meh commercials don't make you think about it..just passes right on through your brain.
They need to be either really good ones or really bad ones to have an effect...marketing is all about getting people to talk about your company/product. The only time a bad commercial hurts you is if it's offensive...if its' just ridiculously stupid/bad then it doesn't hurt you.

The Jodi Arias philosophy of marketing.

Their problem is their corporate masters have gone cheap for so long they have continually degraded the product in the name of rising revenues. The long term problem is they don't eat the product and have let it go to crap.
Col Sanders daughter used to live across the street from Larry Hopkins (former congressman and son is actor Josh Hopkins) so I used to eat the real stuff back in the 1960's and it was excellent. John Y Jr screwed the pooch when he let it get sold the first time (Hubeline - beer company - I think) and it went down from there. It was already in decline when Pepsi bought them and spun them off in the YUM stock deal.

From the article:
Couldn't possibly be that CFA has cleaner stores, better customer service, and better food?
Marketing can only do so much when a trip to KFC is a miserable experience.
quote:
He said KFC has "lost relevance" in the US, noting that 60% of millennials had not eaten at the fried chicken chain. Chick-fil-A last year surpassed KFC to become the No. 1 chicken chain the US by sales — with just a fraction of KFC's stores.

Maybe they'll do a spot with the Colonel and Snoop--that could be fun.

Ok I just saw one of the new spots and all I can say is
Eta not because the Colonel is in them but because of the content of them

Guess to each their own. I grew was born in 69 and grew up identifying CS with KFC. I see no problem with the new ads. People thinking this will affect their sales negatively are being absurd. People who buy from KFC will continue to buy from KFC. Probably the same people who love the Allstate commercials with the girl who calls her old car Brad.
