I'll never forget, March 31, 1987, went to bed with it raining and about mid sixties. Woke up on April 1st to low 20's and huge ice storm. Lot's of downed power lines, trees and limbs.

Is this some sort of sick joke? It was -5 windchill when I went out to my car this morning

The sick joke is that Florida is supposed to get 70 degree weather.

I was a senior in high school during the 93 blizzard. It was fun as shite the first couple of days, but that snow stuck around for over a week, and we were without power most of that week. It sucked once all your clothes were wet and you had to sit inside by the fireplace.

You and I are the same age. The 93 blizzard hit on a Friday afternoon and lasted until Saturday morning. I remember checking out of school that Friday so that I could get to my brother's house in Tuscaloosa. Started sleeting about 3 in the afternoon and shortly thereafter starting snowing. Steadily grew harder and harder before stopping the next morning. My brother lived at the corner of 13th Street/10 Avenue next door to where the white 2 story house is now (it was just an open lot then). We had about 10 inches of snow with 3 foot drifts. AWESOME storm!!

P.S. The 93 storm was epic but my favorite winters were from the 1980s. I know a little of that is nostalgia but there were some epic arctic blasts and quite a few good snows during that decade even deep into the Deep South. There were a lot of really cold winters in the 70s and 80s.

I was working at the Bruno's on McFarland when the blizzard hit. Busiest I ever saw that store, but we didn't care. There were tons of snowball fights in the parking lot with co-workers and shoppers.
