So Brighton, England, known as the gayest city in the world, wants children, some as young as four, to decide what gender they want to be before they start school.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3548962/Now-children-young-FOUR-asked-choose-gender-start-school.html

quote:

Parents have been left furious after receiving a letter instructing them to help their four-year-olds choose a gender before they start primary school.

Brighton and Hove City Council sent a letter to hundreds of families telling them which school their child would attend in September but asked them to respond with which gender their child preferred.

Along with the main text in the letter, there was also a note next to the tickbox for male/female explaining that the national recording system only gives two options for gender but to help their child choose a gender they most identified with.

Continued in link above ...

Surely this is going too far even for the most politically correct of you are here ... no one agrees with allowing this to happen, do you?

It's coming here - it will find it's way here eventually, like everything else.

In a nation where anything goes, everything eventually will.

What's wrong with this? I had decided I was a boy by the time I was 4, you don't think kids today can?

At four years old, I wanted to be a dragon.

It's total bullshite that my mother and the school wouldn't allow me to identify as a dragon.

Yeah this is stupid. I think homosexuality is a like... a part of the human condition. It's existed forever. Some people are just gay, and who cares, we're all filling a hole one way or another... but the transgender stuff... I'm not so sure about. That seems like some sort of brain shite that needs fixing. Like not breathing in lead paint chips during pregnancy or something.

I can't remember which book it was at the moment, but it was either The Forever War by Haldeman or Time Enough For Love by Heinlein that I read years ago, decades ago, pure science fiction, where it was predicted that homosexuals would eventually take over the world ... where heterosexuals would become the minuscule minority - and that it was a part of natural evolution that helped to prevent the overpopulation of the earth.

I'm starting to believe that this is the beginning ... we are witnessing the beginning of exactly what was predicted in whichever book it was that I read-that-in so many years ago.

There is no other explanation ... nothing else makes sense.

Your grandparents didn't accept black people. Your parents were smarter than that. Your parents accepted black people; but not gay people. You were smarter than that. You accepted gay people; but not transgender people. Your kids will be smarter than you. They will accept transgender people; but still not Auburn fans.

I don't think this thread is about whether it is right or wrong to be gay. I think most people roll their ideas at talking to 3-4 year olds about whether they self identify as the the opposite gender of their physical characteristics. My kids are mixed race and he was shocked at about age 6 to hear that he was part one race and part the other. Totally didn't think about such things. And when he found out he didn't care.

I just don't think that age 3 or 4 is a good time to let children make life choices that could be way off and have serious consequences. Just treat them like their birth gender until you have reason to believe otherwise.

I knew a guy whose son wanted to wear girl clothes and have girl stuff when he was a boy. They tried to be cool with it and all of the sudden he just did a 180 and demanded not to be treated that way. It was really strange to be around. But I am glad they didn't start pushing him in that direction.

I accept transgenders, but I still think it's like someone is "broken" for lack of a better term. As if it's a type of Body Dysmorphic Disorder. It is called Gender Dysphoria afterall. Where as homosexuality I think is just normal.

I read this as Hardy_Har pointing out that he wouldn't care if a dick were wearing a dress, to him it's still considered a dick worth fricking.

The way I see it, if we want to accept this whole gender neutral thing, then I think I should be able to play women's basketball or women's tennis or women's golf. Especially women's golf. I'll be a fricking millionaire in short order.

If they want to open it up, let's go all the way.

Kaitlyn should go out for women's track as well.

Council is a national "laughing stock" over gender identity question

This article is a bit more objective than The Daily Mail. Really, Scrooster, The Daily Mail?

In an effort to be inclusive and to prevent bullying of the very small percentage of transgender students at the town's schools, the Labour-majority city council went way overboard in its efforts to distinguish them from the rest of the students. If you read the comments after the article, you'll agree that their effort would only make things worse for transgender students.

quote:

THE city council has been labelled a "laughing stock" after sending out forms asking parents which gender their "three-year-old children “most identify with”.

Councillor Dawn Barnett said it had gone too far in trying to be politically correct by urging parents to support their child’s choice of gender identity in a letter confirming primary school places this week.

Labour councillors from Brighton and Hove City Council have hit back at national criticism saying the letter, which asked them to return the form with information about their child, was designed to prevent the small number of trans children at the city’s schools from being bullied.

The human brain is the most complex structure in the Universe that we know of. Many scientists think of it as a quantum computer.

There are countless ways in which the brain can get broken, as you say. Sexual problems get undue attention because of the high status of sex in the lives of modern humans.

Gender identification disorder (GID) is a legitimate birth defect. It's incidence is very small but the people afflicted with the condition suffer immensely.

Treatment ranges from mental therapy to gender reassignment, depending on a person's needs to live a more settled life. Many GID sufferers commit suicide.

Based on what I've studied and seen in life, I personally think there are two distinct categories of transgender individuals: Those like teenager Leelah Alcorn who committed suicide because her conservative Christian parents wouldn't allow her to take hormone therapy leading up to gender reassignment (they instead forced her into religious therapy); and others like Caitlyn Jenner who seem to enjoy the frills of womanhood but who don't want gender reassignment or sex with men. They actually still prefer women as sexual partners.

4 year olds, Kentucker, 4 year olds have no fricking clue what they identify as. The idea that we should participate in a 4 year old's delusions is absurd.
