Semantics. The Republican Party, in the two party system, is the acting representative party of the conservative ideology. As of 2012, the official Republican Party Platform calls to Constitutionally define marriage as one man and one woman and a Consitutional Ban on gay marriage.

One party or side might claim to be less involved with social issues, but that only applies to the ones they agree to. Liberals and their anti-Christian agenda is the same as conservatives and their anti-gay agenda.

What does this even mean? Romney wasn't a conservative? In what way? What is your definition of conservative? Whatever the majority of self-identified conservatives claim is conservative? Is that different than what you think is conservative?

... in the radical mass elimination of whole sectors of the government way? Like what? The Rick Perry plan of eliminating the Department of Commerce, Department of Education, and the Department of Energy?

Is this what in general other conservatives want in "smaller government"? I have always thought of that as hollow rhetoric. The majority of conservatives don't know what "smaller government" means other than Obama wouldn't like it, and Sean Hannity says it a lot on the radio.

LOL. Again, you're confusing "Modern Bush-Republican Neoconservatism" with actual conservatism.

ETA: I'm sorry you've chosen the wrong moniker for modern Republicans.

So what is the conservative platform exactly? Most party platforms have a stance on abortion, budget, economy, civil rights, corporations, crime, drugs, education, energy, foreign policy, reform, gun control, and health care.

What exactly are the "conservative" stance on these issues? How do they differ from the Republican stance. Is this what the majority of self-identified conservatives believe? Does itvary by region? Or is is it just your personal definition of conservatism?

I'm not making any claims about the definition of conservative. I'm just asking you how they differ from the Republican Party. I don't think you know.

I am well aware there is a huge difference, I just don't think it is what you think it is.

I voted for Ted Cruz. I don't consider him a "conservative", but I bet genro does.
