That bottom line is a person was shot in his doorway while holding a wii controller. Please stop justifying this as not that big of a mistake.
I don't know what he was in trouble for, but if it wasn't a violent crime this is even more appalling.

It's not a mistake at all until the court says so.

And it's not justifiable until the court says so, so you shouldn't be acting like it wasn't a mistake.
"He wasn't innocent. End of story"
As if the fact that he wasn't a model citizen means he deserves to be killed on his doorstep while holding a video game controller.

All signs point to the family being tPOS's.
Dad has a misdemeanor warrant violation. Obviously the whole family should be shot. You're a disgusting Frick.
Edit: attitudes like yours is why police abuse of authority will continue to be a problem.

Seems to differ from the trailer family narrative.

I don't believe the narrative the family is presenting. They have no credibility.

I think there are a lot of good LEOs out there, and I've never had any problems with police. But, I'm pretty law-abiding.
I have seen some things that really bothered me though. As a part of a leadership program, I did a couple of ride-alongs with police. Over the course of those 2 nights, I witnessed racial profiling, abuse of power, excessive use of force, and just general being dicks because they could. It was disappointing. But those guys were uniforms in a patrol situation, not detectives. I'd like to think they get better as they move up the food chain. Maybe I'm naive.
Count yourself lucky because being law-abiding has little to do with it. Bully cops are like regular bullies -- they know how to select victims that can't fight back and that means going after po' whites, blacks, and other people of color they have reason to believe are poor, less connected, less willing and less able to get the media, courts, and lawyers necessary to fight back and expose them.
Even though, you're presumably middle class or above, white, and female you too can experience what it's like. All you have to do is drive a really beat up car or truck and make sure you look very poor and you'll see a world of difference in how you're treated. Hell just go into a dept. store looking poor and you'll see the difference.
The reason you see bully cops treating black folks badly is because there's an association with class and color in this country with people of color automatically presumed poor. The assumption is that they're what I listed above: unable/unwilling to fight back in court, lacking in the money, connections, and resources to do so in a way that matters. Those are the things (and the assumption that you have access to those things) that protect folks from abuse.
That said, I got nothing but love for the cops who truly are good guys. But damn do the bully cops that are a part of almost every force/dept. give the good guys and gals in blue a bad name.

I've never been bullied by LEO's either. They've always been very nice on the rare occasion that I've interacted when them on duty.

And if it turns out to be a Wii controller then he's just trailer trash and his dad was a piece of trash so no big loss. Amirite?

I guess I've just been very lucky then, I can honestly say I've never had a bad experience with the police.
You don't have to have a personal bad experience with the police to recognize that our police force is being militarized and has little accountability for mistakes.

If it was a black gun like object pointed in a threatening manor, then absolutely. There are black Wii motes.
If not, they'll be moving out of the trailer park.

PEOPLE THAT LIVE IN TRAILERS CAN'T BE TRUSTED!!!

Hitler lived in a trailer. Fact.

Cops are regular people. There are good ones and shitty ones. I'm sorry you have been bullied by the cops. No one deserves that.

Police were corrupt liars before trailer parks existed.

Seriously. Frick you and your attitude. I can't be serious enough.
A dead kid and you're talking about a fricking lawsuit? Yay. I get to buy a Camaro with the blood money from my kids death at the hands of a stupid cop.
Frick you. May you grow a soul.

What race were the officer and the teen? That's really all that matters.

Never said that, in fact have recognized the opposite in this thread.

I haven't read this whole thread. Just saw the general use of police in your last post.

And those that live in trailer parks have always been trash, and usually not law abiding trash, since trailer parks were created.
There are good cops and bad cops. I've known one bad cop. He's also an Army veteran.
I'll be that no one, outside of Sleeping Tiger, that is hating on LEO's will hate on our military the same way, even though just as many of them are bad people.
