I don't know if this has been discussed here...
But I think this is absolutely absurd. The man hasn't even finished the series and Aggie is only delaying the process. Also, please explain to me the impact he's had on the University?

No more distractions people! We need him writing like a motherfricker right now and he can't do that in College Station. Seven hells!

Martin publically addressed the honor on his blog this week, writing, “I am very pleased. Thanks to all my friends at A&M.” He added he won’t be picking up the degree until The Winds of Winter, the highly anticipated sixth book in the A Song of Ice and Fire series, is complete. “We understand Mr. Martin is particularly sensitive to his time commitments and writing efforts,” Carlson notes. “We will be happy to host his return to campus when his schedule allows.”
So it appears that he's at least aware of his commitments.

He's probably going to be dead before he finishes the last book.

Well, his show talks a lot about upcoming dragons, but just shows a lot of dicks...so yeah, I could see how this fits.

As if the Aggie plague of the SEC wasn't enough, they also frick up A Song of Ice and Fire.

They'll have to bury it with him at this rate.

I want to read the 30,000 pages the editors have whacked so far.
"George, we don't need 10 chapters about a civil war in Dorne."
No, we don't, but I still want to read it.

No shite.
For those who won't click, Martin has been hanging out at A&M since the 70's and donated his papers to the school library back in the 90's, before most of us knew who the hell he was.
