I would imagine that people try to summon demons to gain some supernatural power. Word is that A.Crowley tried to summon a demon in his castle in Scotland. Demon damn near killed him. Then he sold the castle to Jimmy Page. He stayed in it one night.

I believe in evil spirits and believe that anyone who invites evil into their lives will be eagerly obliged by demonic spirits who await open invitations. People who do this have no clue what they are asking for.
