You know how I know you don't drive much in 2 of these states
Granted the beauty of my North American heavy metal is one of the quietest rides on the road, driving north and south in KY and TN is good as they are always laying down new pavement and it makes for real quiet drives. The same can not be said for GA and SC. As for OH, the state itself is pretty awful so the roads are the least of my concern there.

It's not so much the roads I'm concerned with. It's the V6 Mustangs driven by meth heads in a wife-beater and chinstrap beard.

I've never been to South Carolina but if their roads are like some of their posters on here, I'll take your word for it. I just drove through Arkansas and West Tennessee. Those roads are absolute garbage. Mississippi roads are meh.

No offense but your road system sucks. If I was a tax payer I'd be pissed.
I live right across the Savannah River from Georgia (Augusta) and I beg to differ. The road from SC into Ga (278) becomes like a washed out dirt road when you leave SC and enter Ga. I-20 and 520 are the same way leaving North Augusta, SC and entering Augusta, Ga.
If you are from Athens, are you familiar with Marti's on Main?
ETA: Whoever mentioned Malfunction Junction...amen. It requires the patience of a saint and God help you if anyone gets into even the most minor fender bender. Southern ppl become very un-southern like from the frustration MJ causes.

you're trying so hard to strive for a rivalry that doesn't and will not exist.

If you're going from atlanta to athens and you're taking 20....you're doing it very wrong.

Since scrooster is clearly coming in from the east/SC, he'd have to take I-20 to US-78 in Thomson or something similar. He wouldn't be coming in from Atlanta.
As for the roads, I don't remember SC being bad at all, save Malfunction Junction.
Tennessee is OK in general, but the traffic chokepoints around Chattanooga are atrocious. Once you get outside that, the rides to Nash or Knox are rather pleasant.

The I-95 corridor in SC is a personal injury attorney's dream.

That's true, but I was just going by what he posted which was

I say the same thing every time I have to travel down I-20 through or around Atlanta. Not to mention the shitty roads from I-20 up to Athens.
so that's what I was going on.

Interstate driving through East TN is beautiful. West TN make same want to kill myself though.

It took us at least over 5 hours yesterday. Because i95 is a two fricking lane road in South Carolina. One of the backbones of the US road system is a two lane road. Didn't see one accident yesterday either. At one point, it took us 10 minutes to go 1 mile.
As for other states. Florida is fine until you get to Miami. I've had issues in Tennessee but nothing state wide and is a non-issue. North Carolina is ok. Virginia is fine. Kentucky is nice. I like Georgia's. I have spent almost no time on i20. I live on the coast. I use i95, i16, i17, 341, and 441 which are some rural arse roads which are pretty well maintained.

This. TN's stretches of interstate are some of the best I've been on. The only problem areas I've seen are Memphis and last year after the bad winter, the Knox area sections of 75 and 40 had a ton of potholes, but those were quickly fixed when Spring came. I-24 through KY and TN is a good road, and there is a very noticeable difference in TN and NC mountain stretch of 40.
Texas roads are decent, but if anyone here has been on I-30 East of Dallas lately, that is the worst road I've ever driven on.

Can't argue.. I live in the upstate. 85 is filled with potholes and uneven pavement..it's also annoying to me that the second exit in SC from NC is an adult store.. Looks trashy..26 from Spurg to Columbia is fine(besides a boring drive) but other than that... 95 is another crappy road with potholes and uncut grass..not many good places through there to stop either.. I love South Carolina but the taxpayers money is mismanaged..

Oh sheeesh.
Tennessee I-40 has been under construction longer than the bypass around Atlanta.
North Carolina I-95 at Lumberton is notorious for how bad it is and always has been. I still visit friends at Ft Bragg regularly and always dread Lumberton I-95.
And I-95 from Richmond to D.C. is a total shite show.
Gimme a break.

its actually comical. Leaving savannah the second you pass the state line into SC the road goes to absolute shite. I don't understand it but it's frickin terrible.
Posted on 12/29/15 at 2:34 pm to scrooster
I'm from SC but now live in Tn. I would gladly take SC. roads over tn's
