I'm for a quick execution in cases where the guilt of the perp is well documented and beyond any (not just reasonable) doubt. That's the case with the mass murderer in Charleston.

There's no benefit to society in incarcerating for life a serial killer or mass murderer. They're insane and the vast majority of them cannot be rehabilitated. Get it done. I favor Utah's method, a firing squad.

I don't have a problem with the death penalty in cases like this, but in general I'm weary of using it. To echo cokebottle, I'd rather not execute 1000 murders than execute 1 innocent person.

Like the two animals convicted of the Cheshire murders, correct? The ones who raped the two little girls and their mother before burning them alive.

plus … it'll give the kid a chance to interact with a lot of African-Americans with whom he can share his experience.

You do understand that the Brand or some other white supremacist gang will instantly scoop this kid up and protect him until they can turn him into a crash test dummy right?

Agreed completely.

I particularly agree to the death penalty part. Simply change the burden of proof for imposing the death penalty to 'beyond any doubt' and you'd eliminate the risk of executing an innocent.

Eh, I'd much prefer keeping them alive, in solitary, but every few months prepping them for execution. They'd be begging to die by the third or fourth time, but they don't get to.

If you did go that route put them on bread and water and make them work with all proceeds going to the survivors and the victims family.

Why make a production out of it? Singapore will just hang you in the basement of the jail on a friday morning the week after you are convicted. no muss no fuss.

if you want to use a bullet, then China way works best. One dude with a pistol shoots the prisoner in the back of the head. One bullet. Done. frick em.

I could agree with putting him in a small cage/room for the rest of his life - maybe with a father raper. Let him out with the general population every so often with no protection, let him get along with them based on his overwhelming charm.

If they can't figure out how to kill him, then give him life no parole, no visitors and an unmarked grave in the prison graveyard when he dies.

Send him to a federal super-max prison. I understand many of their inmates, go crazy they have so little human contact.

My money's on the black faction in this one. They will not rest until Roof's put to rest I'll wager.

You don't seem to be familiar with the prison gang hierarchy.

Not from personal experience, no. But if friends of mine, incarcerates themselves in both state and Federal super max prisons, are to be believed, the Brand's power has diminished somewhat over the years, thanks to concerted efforts by law enforcement. they don't dominate the prison system as they once did.

Let's assume you're right though: the kid will be taken in by the Brand. In exchange for which he'll be tasked with doing all manner of violence as a Brand soldier.

Here's another wager: the kid eventually gets hit by his own--for being a punk, a snitch or just a frick-up. I'd bet money this is what happens if he becomes a Brander.

So there you have it: he gets whacked by blacks in vengeance … or whites for being a punk.

Neither scenario is pleasant to contemplate. I think we'd agree on that.

Ninety-five percent of all known executions were carried out in only six countries: China, Iran, Saudi Arabia, the United States, Pakistan and Iraq.

So, the Inquisition, the Holocaust and Stalin's purges don't get Spain, Germany or Russia on the list? Whoever put your stat together must not be counting those killings as executions. The government (and, in the case of the Inquisition, the church, which was essentially indistinguishable from the government) took people into custody and put them to death. How are those killings not executions?
