You seriously believe a 17 year old should be thrown out of a public high school for smoking a joint?

Thanks for putting words in my mouth.

Then why don't they just test their own kids themselves?

Not trying to put words in your mouth but how else can

think anything that requires receiving a benefit from the government, should require drug testing. Whether that benefit is education, food stamps, welfare, or whatever.

be taken.

If drug test are required for an education what else can the penalty for failure be?

X Knows they'd all fail if they started doing this

On a serious note, no we don't need to spend extra money on this. What happens when someone fails and the parents flip out. The parents will start suing saying we're ruining their lives.

Private schools can do what they please. Public? Hell no.

If they did this at my public high school in Austin 90% of the kids would test positive.

Also not worth the tax money.

shite, Trinity isn't a whole lot better. Can't wait to see the uproar when they find out the "random" tests don't happen to kids of major boosters.

I have no problem with private schools doing their own testing though.

My youngest got "random" drug tested like five or more times at the middle school. Why? Because they knew he'd pass. The football team frick ups and the degenerates never got tested because the school knew they'd fail. Also, the kids at the high school know when they are getting tested. My nephew was buying clean urine from another student to pass the test. Worked until someone finally caught him and sent him to rehab.

Drugs are out of control where we live. It's not because they don't have a mom and a dad at home either. It's because their parents are trying to be friends with their kids instead of parents. They are enabling bad behavior by protecting their kids against anything and everything. Its awful.

My private high school used to have "random" drug tests. They just picked like three kids who they were pretty sure would pass at the beginning of the year. Never any athletes. I don't think they even bother anymore

Trust me when I say this, THC alters brain chemistry in juvenile users and not in a good way. Some kids can handle it, some can't. It's that casual approach to drugs and drinking that exacerbate the problem.

BTW, I'm all for drug legalization across the board just for adults.

Why? What do drugs have to do with any of that? And by the way, EVERYBODY receives a benefit from the government in some way or another. Do you think everybody should be drug tested?
