The up front cost would be a pretty penny but they would save in the long run because of a decrease in law suits. Good cops should push for it as it would push the bad cops out and prove that their actions in a situation were lawful

The upfront costs aren't bad anymore. You're in at easily under $200 an officer. You're also spot on with how they're viewed by good cops.

My local PD has them and absolutely loves them. As with dash cams, they save vastly more officers than they hang.

Every single LE agency that does patrol should be trying everything possible to equip their members.

Funny thing is that a lot of citizen privacy groups are against the idea. I suspect it is more because they don't like the fact that there will be an impartial record more than they fear any privacy invasions.

yea but some departments are huge and others have very little budget. They still have plenty of ways to get the funds for them and it saves money in the long run.

probably a combination of that and people that think the cameras would some how invade their privacy even though they are out in public

actually caught them doing the deed at school and it saved his rear.

It's saved us from a couple lawsuits for sure. One in particular a student claimed a teacher put his hands on him unprovoked. He failed to mention what we later saw on camera. The student chasing another student with a pocket knife.

How do you pay for the cameras then?

Ask the community for donations. I'm betting they'd raise that money quick.
