Called in 250 pound buck last year with rattling when I was leaning on tree. Got with 10 feet and was pissee glaring right at me. Much respect of old time hunters
And then the really wierd shite

It wasnt so much of a scary sound as it was unexpected. I was walking to my stand one morning in complete darkness when all of a sudden it sounded like the woods exploded all around me. It took me about three pants ruining seconds to realize I had walked into flock of turkeys and made them take flight.

Walking back from a deer blind one time, it was dark enough to use a flashlight, I'm walking along and it seemed like the ground exploded at my feet. A frickin woodcock had apparently sat there until I damn near stepped on it. It was a few minutes of puckering and unpuckering

First time hearing a fox scream made my butthole pucker up pretty good.
Was camping one time and was asleep in my bag and a armadillo woke me up sniffing my hair and making this pig sound

I'll add that once I was camping in the Ozark Mountains and I awoke to the sound of something running around my tent. It sounded like a dog moving at high speed around my tent. I yelled out and it stopped, only to continue again shortly after.

I had a Santa Gertrudis bull come through a fence and put me back up in a tree the first night of bow season in 2008. I heard him coming when he was 50 yds out and I started climbing. He went through 4 strands like he was running through cooked spaghetti.

I was on my cot with nothing but a mosquito net.
Woke up and there were bear, hog, cat, and gator tracks all around our camp.
Slept through it all.

When you can hear the Grizzly walking and breathing outside your tent the only thing left to do is pray.

Screech owl let loose about 10 yards from where a friend and I were walking out of the woods after night hunting for a while. We knew what it was pretty quick, but the initial startle was a bitch.
Same buddy and I had been frog gigging at a neighbor's pond one evening and were walking across his pasture without a light. How we never saw that mule that snorted about 10 yards away from us I'll never know. Pants were soiled then, too.
But the scaredest was one evening just between dusk and dark. I had just walked down to the pond at the backside of our 40 acres with a weak flashlight. Something took off crashing through the woods about half way around the right side. Too loud and heavy and made too much noise to be a deer. Or even several deer. No livestock, and they wouldn't have taken off like that either. Don't know what the hell it was, but I got back to the house in a hurry.

There was a hunter in the woods, who, after a long day hunting, was in the middle of an immense forest. It was getting dark, and having lost his bearings, he decided to head in one direction until he was clear of the increasingly oppressive foliage. After what seemed like hours, he came across a cabin in a small clearing. Realizing how dark it had grown, he decided to see if he could stay there for the night. He approached, and found the door ajar. Nobody was inside. The hunter flopped down on the single bed, deciding to explain himself to the owner in the morning.
As he looked around the inside of the cabin, he was surprised to see the walls adorned by several portraits, all painted in incredible detail. Without exception, they appeared to be staring down at him, their features twisted into looks of hatred and malice. Staring back, he grew increasingly uncomfortable. Making a concerted effort to ignore the many hateful faces, he turned to face the wall, and exhausted, he fell into a restless sleep.
The next morning, the hunter awoke — he turned, blinking in unexpected sunlight. Looking up, he discovered that the cabin had no portraits, only windows.
