Cool, but how is that supposed to make the 10% offended by Washington's team feel better? What if 49% of students at the Arizona school felt uncomfortable with it? Do you think a name change should be considered only if the majority hate it? If there was a team in Alabama called the cotton-pickers and the majority of blacks didn't mind it but a minority really took offense, we're supposed to just go with the majority when there a neutral options for a team name?

I knew black students at a high school in Alabama whose mascot was the rebels and it made them uncomfortable. They were in the minority though so I guess it's okay to disregard their feelings in the name of tradition?

Everyone is offended by something today.

I'm offended by lard asses. That doesn't mean that I can go out and get rid of them.

If a group of feminists were offended by "Crimson Tide", would you support an Alabama name change?

People are offended by all sorts of things. Again, you can't please everybody.

I (and a lot of other Redskins fans) would be offended by changing the name. It would basically be the league telling me that what I'd cheered and supported for my whole life didn't matter because a small minority of people thought it was offensive, even though it hasn't been used as a slur in basically the past century.

They wouldn't be, because your counter example is ridiculous.

You'd be offended if it were changed to a non racially charged name? I try to empathize and see issues from someone else's worldview, but I just can't here

You know what's a fun 1 minute pass time? Putting "anal" in front of any pro team and see how funny you can make it sound.

They could be the Roll Tards. It would be representative of the mental capacity of 100% of their fans.
