Why? They picked up Cruz at a decent price, they signed Jimenez without overpaying too much, if Davis/Jones continue to be the players they are and Weiters, Machado improve this could be a good team.

A lot will hinge on some of those young pitchers however, Bundy will be back in June/July, Gauseman has to prove he can be a MLB starter, Tillman needs to continue to pitch like he has.

i don't know man, i like our rotation depth but i didn't like that we let ells walk. That is a lot of trust in jbj when he hasn't done much on the major league level.

however, its hard to not trust our front office after last year

I agree 100%. JBJ has big shoes to fill. Hope he's up for it. Need a nice year from Xander and need Middlebrooks to get his shite together too.

ETA: I like the addition of AJ behind the plate too.

yea i loved the addition of AJ behind the plate, I didn't want mccann when his name was being thrown out because i didn't think he would blend in with our locker room.

Middlebrooks has so much potential but i think he is going to be traded at some point since his little playoff bitch fest.

Really pulling for Grady Sizemore to be succesful for us too. He had so much promise early in his career before injuries took their toll.

all I know is im going to make a couple games this summer. don't care if they win or lose, just going for the baseball

Last year they had a deal on Tuesdays where you could get in for $5 if you brought a Powerade label to the ticket office. And with the current state of Astros baseball, you can sneak all the way down to the bottom for $5. Did it many times last year

You'll end up spending 10x more money on beer than you do on the tickets

Counting on a 37 year old catcher is as bad as a 40 year old SS.....
Red Sox have holes at SS/CF counting on some rookies who were not sure how they will hit over a full season. Middlebrooks sucked first half of last year and was sent down and came back to be respectable, he needs to start out this year the way his second half was. Also Ortiz has to fall off at some point, or they need to start selling whatever he is on.

I think the Yanks and O's both got better this past offseason as well and the East is the best division and most wide open race right now

that would be huge for us if he ended up playing well

Well we still have Victorino, Gomes and Nava in the OF along with JBJ. Mike Carp can play out there some too. Plus Sizemore will hopefully contribute.

AJ will platoon with David Ross.

Xander will play SS and Middlebrooks will play 3B. We could still make a move for Stephen Drew, but honestly I hope we don't.

Victorinio had a decent year last year but was nothing special really
Gomes is a platoon player and you don't want him having 500 AB
Sizemore I doubt he ever regains what he once was, he seems on them at Mark Prior trail now where everyone just hopes he can play again
Nava had a good season last year and will be 31 without much of a history so you have no idea what to expect.

AJ is still the primary catcher and expected to catch probably 110-120 games, I don't trust older players but he may hop on the Ortiz special mix.

Main thing is the main players Dustin and Ortiz each had solid/above average seasons last year and Lester, Lacky, Clay anchored the rotation. Clay missed a good portion but Lacky surprised everyone and had a solid season.
