Shaka or just wait until Kobe retires and can run the team into the ground.

I wonder if we've talked to Mark Jackson at all. Of the available coaches with NBA experience I'd take him over them all. Then followed by Hollins.

I wish we would. I thought he was great last year, kind of cooled on him this year a little bit, but I would take that hiring and be very happy about it. At least relative to Scott. Who by all accounts is an OK coach, its just meh

Best case scenario: y'all take Andy Kennedy from our hands so we can get a better coach.
I think Realist would kill himself.

You just don't hire a guy like Byron Scott when you are going to try to draw in top free agents. Him being hired elicits no excitement or passion in the fan base or players IMO.

Mark Jackson is not the answer in LA. I think it will be someone like Doug Collins for a couple years still.

Trying to liven this place up a bit.
I saw where y'all interviewed Hollins a week or a two ago. The only thing you have to worry about with Lionel is that he been known to butt heads with the media. I can't imagine what he would be like dealing with how ridiculous the media coverage is for the Lakers.
Correct me if I am wrong, but it does seem like the Lakers are one of the few remaining holdouts in the league when it comes to analytics. Lionel would love that.

Why? he is a winner, leaves teams in better shape than he gets them, and players respect him.

He would collectively scare away every FA and draft pick.
Would probably make some stupid racist remark and scare away Kobe too.
I would die from happiness.

he is a winner
wut.... 5 winning seasons in 11 seasons as a head coach. 3 of those were with Jordan/pippen bulls. The other 2 were also in the mid 90s with the Pistons.

I guesyou dont understand what being a winner is, it is not just total won loss. He has improved his team every time. The things he has stepped into were absolute wrecks generally.
The Bulls were awful under Stan Albreck and whoever was before him.
The Pistons were terrible and the championship guys were gone thats why they had Grant Hill (the uniform that had the horse head on it era)
Sixers were improving

Being a winner means winning more than you lose.
His last 3 seasons in Philly, their win totals went down each season.
2011 - 41-41
2012 - 35-31 (I'll give you this. who knows with the strike)
2013 - 34-48
Just like Scott, McMillan and Hollins he still doesn't do shite to excite the fan base or possible free agents. He's a good coach with a good kind personality. I wish him all the luck in the world at any other job besides the Lakers.

I think I said earlier in this thing doug Collins would be one of the first people I contact. But weve done nothing with him
Posted on 6/18/14 at 11:25 pm to UMRealist
I'd take him over Scott, hollins, dunleavy, etc
Posted on 6/18/14 at 11:28 pm to WestCoastAg
Well I would too but I think he's in the same "do not want" category.
Posted on 6/18/14 at 11:52 pm to UMRealist
Doug Collins is the best one out there other than Larry Brown and he is not leaving SMU.

I don't know if he's going to end up in Boston, but wherever he goes, LeBron is sure to follow.
