Go to a good gun store and talk to someone there

Good advice

If you have a gun range close enough that rents firearms then go and rent several taht interest you and try them all

Just don't get caught up in the "you are a woman, you need a small caliber"

Most modern semi-autos are very manageable

I would suggest going no smaller than a 9mm (JMO)

Those are both pretty cool too.

I know. I plan on getting a handgun and a concealed carry license when I turn 21 in a few months and I have no idea what I want.

I like the Px4 and just discovered they have a .45 ACP version that is reasonably priced. I think that might be what I get, but like others have said I'll have to try them out in the store.

That's what I want. I want one that's easy to carry.

I just got a .357 Magnum for Christmas. I'm keeping it in my truck, I plan on getting my CC license over the summer so I can carry it. I love the gun, it shoots nice and lots of power.

With a handgun, I like power. I don't want to defend myself and read the headlines an it say "home intruder shot 5 times, in stable condition". I want it to say "burglar shot once in chest, pronounced dead at the scene".

This is what I was thinking. I'm probably going to get my brother to go with me and help me pick one out. I mainly want one that isn't extremely heavy or big (can fit in my purse), and is easier for someone with smaller hands to handle.

I'm thinking that I like the semi automatics better than the revolvers. I just need to do some research and see what I really want.

Just be sure that once you get it, you go to a shooting range and get lessons. They do special lessons at a bunch of places geared toward women so that a) you know how to shoot, and b) you know how to protect your gun in case someone tries to overpower you and then turn it on you.

You don't want that to happen.

SEC Outdoor board.

Seriously, my wife has a Ruger LCR 38 special, and a Ruger SR9. She handles and shoots both of them well. The revolver is a bit small for me, but works great for her.

Yeah. I'll definitely have to do that. I'm sure my brother will teach me too.
