And I'm guessing you've bumped into, interacted with and/or worked with thousands of gun owners, but the topic never came up, so you never knew they were.
There are hundreds of thousands of responsible gun owners that you'll never talk about because they don't give you a reason to.

And the point of this post was??

This just in, dude. Responsible gun owners don't brag about their guns; they don't show them off; they only use them when they USE them. Hence, you aren't going to KNOW when you interacted with them, and aren't going to count them. Chances are, you've had far more interactions with them than the few bad ones you mention. If all (or any) of these are even true.

Let me paraphrase and condense points 1, 2, 3, 4, 4a, 4b, 4c, 5, 6, and 7 and the accompanying text for the purpose of readability for rest of the board:
"Y'all are no good with guns because I had a crappy job at KMart, and I sucked so back they stuck me in the back of the store. Then I got another sucky job at a newspaper making SCADS more money [he said, with dripping sarcasm]. In both places, my co-workers and customers were pretty stupid with all of their guns so you must be stupid with them too. Blah blah blah beautiful blonde blah blah."
That's about it, right?

1. A 15 year old shot me in the leg with a bb gun on purpose and shot at my friend when I was 10.
He was just trying to toughen you up, but apparently failed. As a 10-yr old, neighborhood guys planned on a BB gun fight, and me being completely naive asked my mother for permission to go. That did not go well. When invited back at age 12 it was great fun, except for the sorry sumbitch who had a CO2-cartridge BB gun. That damn thing HURT. But I had him crying by the end of the day so it was all good.

And this thread is about responsible gun ownership? Really?
FWIW we own 4 and neither of us have ever shot anybody (or pointed one at somebody, for that matter.) Then again we aren't 15 and don't get stoned out of our damn minds. 3 shotguns accumulated over many years and a Glock 9mm. Wife carries the Glock on frequent trips to Jackson and I trust her completely with it and feel much better knowing she's armed and is former Army. If you're not, well that ain't our fault. STFU.

BTW, this was the neighborhood I lived in at the time.
Oh, I see. That makes your story credible.

All those words can be summed up in four letters. TLDR.

I worked at K-mart from 1981-1984 and paid for my college education with the money I made there.

I failed miserably?
I was simply recounting my experiences with gun-owners.
Now lots of people are aware of why I doubt the commonly held belief that most gun-owners are responsible.
The guy who killed his wife while cleaning his gun was never even charged with manslaughter. I talked to someone who attended the funeral. She said the husband was pretty broken up about it, and his deceased wife's mother was comforting him. Pretty sure it was an accident. The police evidently thought so.

There are over 300 Million legal guns owned in the U.S. with about 10 Million gun owners. If "most" gun owners were irresponsible...I'd think everyone would know.

Good lord me and my friends used to have BB gun and bottle rocket/Roman candle wars at this age for fun. We had forts built in the woods and used PVC pipes to launch fireworks and shot full auto cO2 bob guns at each other.
We would have been friends. Most of my friends still have BBs in them to this day. I had one myself up until about a decade ago when a nurse practitioner removing a mole for biopsy asked if she could remove it while she had her scalpel out.
...and biopsy was negative:)

Sounds like it was an accident.

Around 800 deaths per year are due to firearm accidents or firearm use with "undetermined intent".
800 out of 100,000,000 gun owners. Can you comprehend how disproportionate that ratio is?
