A Memphis man died in police custody in Southaven Saturday night after reportedly being hogtied and telling officers he was having trouble breathing due to asthma.

Troy Goode, 30, of Memphis, died at Baptist Memorial Hospital in DeSoto Saturday night, two hours after being detained by the Southaven Police Department, according to Tim Edwards, an attorney for Goode’s family.

Policemen need college educations. The bottom 15% of high school grads are making life and death decisions

I wondered what would have happened if he would have remained sober to drive home?

Okay, let's get some shite straight about this.

He died two hours later at a hospital.

He was on LSD.

He got out of a car at a red light and was attempting to break into a police car.

Blame the cops though.

Might not have been LSD, but some of that horrible synthetic designer shite that people pass off as LSD which fries people's brains beyond repair.

I was at the show and am not at all surprised this happened.

Some of my buddies are into that scene and I live less than a mile away from the amphitheater so I thought what the hell I would check it out. While I had an idea what to expect, I had no clue of the extent, and I spent the whole show getting drunk and judging people with my wife. Some of the big time wookies there could probably feel my negative vibes for hundreds of yards.

We had a kid a couple years ago that got ahold of some pot laced with crystal or something along those lines. He attacked a student and a teacher and was sprinting around the building tearing shite up when we called the police. He then tried to attack the officers. After they finally got him restrained and in the car, he tried to kick out the windows in the backseat. Eventually they had to restrain his feet as well.

The family sued saying that the police caused undue "mental and physical distress" by restraining him because he managed to dislocate his own ankle in the process (they had called EMS anyway because of his erratic behavior). It was absolutely ridiculous.

If he was really "hog-tied," his family will get paid. That won't bring him back from the dead, however.

Very likely on some kind of RC if he truly died from toxicity of the substance.

Also possible is that he freaked out from a psychedelic, cops hog tied him to control him, he has an asthma attack and dies. I'm not really a cop hater, but I absolutely hate the restraint techniques that they routinely employ. They're complete overkill very often and don't really do much to pacify the person being arrested, instead often escalating the situation.

Chief Tom Long of the Southaven Police Department said when his officers arrived on scene, they were told Goode was having an "alleged LSD overdose." "The officers on scene and ambulance personnel and hospital personnel felt like the information of the alleged overdose fit the protocol that they were seeing of his actions," Long said.

Who introduced the idea that the man was experiencing an "alleged LSD overdose?"

I imagine his wife told them that he had "taken too much LSD." Not that he overdosed.
