Nah, you're not. A good cup of Eight O'Clock (although I do use filtered water out of my pitcher) is good enough to get me going in the morning.
I'm not dissing the time consuming grind your own beans process, it's great if you've got time, Saturday mornings maybe. But when you are running on a schedule...

My SO bought me a Keurig for Christmas. I hate the damn thing. It takes up too much space, doesn't make enough coffee per cup, and takes almost as long to heat water and brew one cup as Mr. Coffee does to make a pot.
Other than selling the overpriced K-Cups (and I know they make those little mesh ones), what is the purpose of these machines?

I don't drink more than a cup a day. It's just easy to fill the container with a scoop.

I dont know why it takes your keurig to make a cup of coffee but the ones ive had make it super quick. The other benefits is each cup is personalized so if you dont drink much coffee and a cup will do then its not a waste plus you can use different cups/flavors.
The Cons though are also plentiful. The quality is way way low compared to whole beans you grind yourself. If you drink a lot of coffee then k cups are way more expensive per ounce.

Maybe you can and i dont know how. Ive heard you can buy cups and do it yourself. Sounds like it would take some extra effort and sort of take the simplicity out of it that separates it from a cheaper mr. coffee.

I like french press on the weekends or if the baby is still asleep on work mornings, but the Keurig is very nice in a tight window. It's also great when I want a cup of Caribou, my wife wants Hazelnut and my crazy MIL wants decaf or hot cocoa..

I could list a ton of reasons why keurigs suck, but I'd rather attack its biggest pro.
It's not even the quickest, must convenient way to make a cup of coffee.
The easiest way is to make cold brew. Its basically making coffee concentrate. You add a bunch of coffee to a bunch of water, let it sit in coffee grounds for 12-24 hours, then filter the grounds out (the even sell it pre made at the grocery store). You keep it in the fridge, and it's what they use to make iced coffee. People use everything from Mason jars, French presses, and many other thing. I bought a setup for it called Toddy Coffee, but mainly because I'm lazy.
In the morning, I add one part coffee to two parts water. Put it in the microwave on the beverage setting, and you have the smoothest, least acidic cup of coffee possible in 60 seconds.
Heat actually brings out the acid in the coffee beans. So cold brew coffee is not bitter at all. I've used some really cheap coffee, and it still tastes great.

My second method, which is as fast as keurig, but taste like a strong French press with less acid
It's called the Aeropress. It's designed by some famous modern inventor who wanted to "make the perfect cup of coffee." And he actually did a pretty amazing job.
It's technically an espresso press. You heat water to 170°, not 195-205°. It needs a very fine grind, not course like a French press. It works as a reverse vacuum, where you push a plunger down to force all the coffee goodness out of the grounds.
You add a couple tablespoons per cup, and water to the level on the tube. Stir for 10-15 secs, and insert the plunger and push. You now have espresso. Add water for an American cup of Joe (an Americano), milk for a latte, or take the shot like a man.
Again, very low acid, and very tasty coffee. It does use a filter. And that's my only problem with the Aeropress. It doesn't have the oils like a French press.
That's why I go with the French press on weekends, when I've got the time to make it, and cold brew during weekdays (I'm not a morning person). I've always used the Aeropress when camping, but I haven't been camping since discovering cold brew, so I may start doing that instead.

You have had several tips on water. Here is one more. Try a Berkey water filter. It takes the chemicals and calcium out and gives you water better than any bottled water you can buy.
