You ain't lyin' I mean, we haven't even hit triple digits down here yet since I've been here.
I'm amazed t how fast I got re-acclimated to the heat, though. Sweating buckets (I always do ), but I feel fine. Definitely built more for the heat than the cold.

Amen. If it's the right thing to do then you don't oppose it simply because a group you distrust had the idea. The right thing is the right thing. You stand on principles, then strongly oppose the group you disagree with when they take it too far.

I agree. The flag has no place on government buildings.
I also find it extremely distasteful that people are even talking about digging up graves and tearing down monuments.
People today don't understand how torn the country was after the war. There is a reason that there were so many bases, streets, monuments, etc named after confederates, when it would have been easy to ban it. There was intense hatred of the federal government and the north for decades, and one of the ways that frustration could be vented was through remembrance. It's the same reason we are now friends with Germany and japan after we crapped all over them. There are monuments to Japanese and German soldiers all over the world, because allowing peoples to honor their dead is important for reconciliation.

Frick, I got 3 down votes
What the heck is that about? Obviously some new OT'ers didn't get the joke

That's a good point. My feeling are indifferent. I care for the confederate flag about as much as I care about the French, Spanish, or British flags. They all ruled my state at some point, but I am an American. The rest of those countries can frick off.
However I do not like the memorial removals and the discussion of digging up graves and relocating them like they are doing in Memphis regarding NB Forrest.
Give me a break. We need the monuments to remind us of the stupid mistakes we have made in the past, so hopefully we wont make them again.

Did we really need yet another thread of this?
Especially since everyone knows your opinion already

While I fully agree on the issue of memorials, the Forrest thing (even though inspired by the current PC mood) doesn't quite rise to the same level. He wasn't originally buried where he lies now. They dug him up almost 30 years after his death and relocated him to the current location. I really can't find the outrage if they just move him back to the original spot.

It's all the rednecks sad that their precious flag is came down today.
Of course since there are only like 10 gamecock posters and maybe 4 Clemson posters (along with me) I doubt any of them live in SC.

Kind of an odd thing to say given how much you've stressed free speech and all that.

I wasn't the idiot that said taking the flag down violated the first amendment in the last thread

Just because its the first thread you've started doesn't mean there hasn't been enough already.
And I'm curious what lazy partisan arguments you have seen. I can't even think how the flag is a partisan issue unless you want to count the SJWs and PC clowns as Democrat partisans.
But even most of the Republicans in SC's legislature are PC clowns so calling that a lazy partisan argument is tenuous at best

So the only true republicans are the ones who don't listen to their constituents? I guess you think that the 3 Repubs in the Senate and the 20 in the House who voted to keep the flag are the only ones in Columbia with a brain, huh?

How do you know what their constituents wanted?
I guarantee if this was a legislative referendum the flag wouldn't have been moved
