Actually, sterling did discriminate and was fined quite a bit for it. He's a shite human being who has the right to be a shite human being, just like other private entities have the right to personally destroy him for being a shite human being.

As someone who used to work in the media....yes, yes they are. The corporations that own most of the media demand they play by the PC rules so they can get business done. Sad.

Yes this white guy came running because of the double standard. But for different reasons. I personally could care less what Jay-Z does or any of the rest of the black celebs that were mentioned.
IMO they have the right to do what they did, no big deal. They have the right to their opinion, and should be free to express it in public if they so choose without fear of repercussion.
But Donald Sterling is being held to a different standard. Because of things he said in private that were recorded illegally. If the league is going to hammer him then they are going to be hard pressed to answer why they didn't hammer the others if this ends up in court.

You need to realize the only reason the NBA was forced to act is because of the faux outrage in the media traditional and social. If they decided to get offended about Gay-Z then he'd be banned from the NBA.

the NBA just wants magic to own.

It is all political. The NBA and everyone else have known about this guy for some time. This sounds like a setup to me and if this ends up in court discovery might be very interesting.

Their mistake because as much as I like Magic he's a moron.

Oh he's going to drag this out for many years no doubt. That's why Silver's words are wind. Those owners don't want to start down that path. Every person has skeletons and now the league has cornered Sterling and he has no recourse but to go nuclear.

plus he is old and rich so given his current situation, what better way to go out than in a blaze of infamy. at least that is what I would do.

The man is worth 1.5 BILLION, and has the reputation of loving to sue people. This might be very interesting indeed.
In other news,Jesse "Hymie Town" Jackson was patrolling the court last night. The PC Crowd might rue the day they pulled this off.

They aren't going to force him to sell unless they are barely functional retards. Considering these guys are worth absurd sums of money, I highly doubt they are that stupid. The legal circus isn't worth it when media pressure and sponsors bailing will likely do the job for them. If they go through with that, I'll be shocked at their decision making. Google Gabe Friedman to learn more about the legal workings of this situation.
The fine and suspension are going to stick and he doesn't have a leg to stand on to fight those or at least a rotten wooden one to stand on.

The legality is why I don't think they'll force him to sell. The NBA doesn't want that case on their hands. Sterling is the type of a-hole who will fight it uuntil the bitter end.
They could definitely force him to stating he's a detriment to profitability to the team/league

The owner's agreement is pretty specific about cause for a forced sell from what I have read. The specifics reign over the general reasons the League may want to push in contract law (from what "my lawyer" told me). It's dangerous territory legally and could easily open up an anti-trust can of worms the NBA likely wants no part of.

I think they don't have a choice but to try and force him to sell. The media and the PC Crowd want this man destroyed and will settle for no less. If they vote otherwise they will be set upon by the hyena pack.

"We voted not to force the sell because the language of the owner's agreement puts us in questionable legal ground. The owner's don't support his statement or views and urge him to sell, but we will not put the league at risk in this matter."
Let the media bitch and moan and hope the focus the hate machine on getting him to sell on his own. Now it could get very interesting if the players decide to boycott during the playoffs based on a decision not to force the sell.
