So glad you read through the rest of this thread.

Only arse backwards one stoplight towns let you just walk in. Glad to know the biggest thing in your town is a fricking Walmart. Small towns for small minds and such.

Lol! I've lived in Atlanta and Orlando as a kid, and Nola and Denver as an adult (with a couple years in Asheville, NC) and am now working in Houston.

How the frick do you get to the concession stand without buying a ticket? How do they not see you walk in with a bucket?

The movie theatre here rips your ticket at the front door. You'd have to walk right past the ticket dude to get to the concession stand.

This.

The ones here are generally all like this: walk in doors to ticket counter, buy ticket, go through roped off part where dude tears your ticket, enter concession area, and then show ticket to person at the wing your movie is in.

The fact that your job is to detect bullshite, and you took this thread seriously, is fricking laughable.

I hear movie theatres make most off the concessions so they probably love that you come in there to buy cheap popcorn for $4.

Truth. Most theaters only make between $0.25 and $0.75 a ticket depending on their deal with the studio releasing the film.

I was a manager at Carmike. Corporate was so anal about concessions, that if we lost a cup, they didnt count it as us having lost 10 cents worth of cardboard, but as us having lost $8 of revenue. So if we lost 3 cups on a shift, it counted as $24 negative, not 30 cents. Made balacing the numbers difficult. I went digging through trash many a night to make up the corporate numbers. Throwing used cups in the "damaged" bin.

Pioneer getting popcorn and going home is just fine by the theater. That $4 of popcorn only cost them about 55 cents.

Yeah, not even close. Only theater company I can think of that does this on a consistent basis is AMC, and only because they build most of their buildings with doors to the 4 largest theaters in the lobby before you get to the concession stand.

The cineplex closest to me has three options

There is a big multiplex in DaVille near KCD where you buy the tickets outside, walk into the concession spot along the back wall, then get your tickets torn on either side before you enter where the movies are even shown, It is very easy to bypass the ticket center and just go to the concessions, buy food , and leave. As long as you do go to the movie area nothing stops you from what pioneer is doing.

The theater is a carmike one. You cant go past the lobby/concession stand area without having someone tear the ticket.
