Weird. I don't think I've ever been to a theatre that takes your ticket at the front door. I guess I can see the confusion in this thread then.
The cineplex closest to me has three options: Purchase tickets from the ticket windows on the exterior of the building, purchase and print your tickets ahead of time, or the 5 doors in the front at the main entrance automatically dumps you into the ticket line (the ropes keep you from entering the lobby).

The ones here are generally all like this: walk in doors to ticket counter, buy ticket, go through roped off part where dude tears your ticket, enter concession area, and then show ticket to person at the wing your movie is in.

Yea most of the ones here dont either. Buy ticket at front walk into lobby buy your food. Then walk around side and they have a guy tearing your ticket and telling you which theater to go to.
I did notice that one of theaters recently stopped posting the names of the movies outside the individual theaters now. I guess they are trying to deter people from double dipping.

How the frick do you get to the concession stand without buying a ticket? How do they not see you walk in with a bucket?
And people wonder why the War on Drugs is failure.

THIS. We rent one for local events promoting our business. Its super easy to use and relatively cheap to operate. We might end up buying one if we keep using it in these local promos.

A movie theater that takes your ticket right at the front door is probably located in a place where convenience store employees work behind bullet-proof glass.
I rest my case.

This is like me going to Jerryworld to buy a $10 Bud light on a weekday to watch ESPN classic.
Get a freaking air popper.

I have a slightly related question since we are on the topic of shitty popcorn...why does almost every single microwave you can buy these days have specific buttons for "popcorn" but all the popcon packages say as the first instruction "DO NOT USE POPCORN SETTING ON MICROWAVE". ...WTF

I have one of these and it is not what makes it all go. The secret to movie popcorn vs home popcorn is the oil it is cooked in. The movie version uses coconut oil which is really high in fat but also really tasty.
ps, if you want to be really cheap. Go to your gf's home and have her make the popcorn while you watch free porn on the internet. To save even more money, have her pick you up so you save on the gas to.

If your that hard for some theater popcorn to take home, make your own. Initial costs are higher, but all of it lasts a long time so its cheaper in the long run and far better tasting too.

ummm... i've travel for a living and instead of drinking and whoring i usually read or see movies. i've seen a movie in San Diego, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Orlando, Tulsa, and New Orleans and not one of them tore my ticket before i could go in the door. they always sold the ticket at the front and a dude tore the ticket before i could get back to the movies section.
sorry you live in tPOS town where they can't trust people.

Ummmm.... Dallas, Tulsa, and OKC all do what I said above. You go inside. Buy a ticket. Walk past the counter. Dude tears the ticket. You walk into the concession area and back to your theater.
The only place I've ever seen it done differently was some discount theater in Nashville.
