Truth.

Anyone who think believes Elizabeth Warren is a "dumb bitch" is simply ignorant beyond all help.

I would agree with this, if the same party didn't turn around and hold the government hostage to their repeal of Obamacare by "shutting down the government" and costing taxpayers more in the end.

Since sequestration in its current form is not the disastrous government shutdown that it was intended to force us to avoid, lawmakers can play brinkmanship and blame their opponents for the results.

What was so bad about the government shutdown? Specifically?

Athens is stereotypical townie/hipster liberal while Oconee Co is stereotypical Bible Belt conservative. Both are almost cartoonishly true to form.

Specifically, when you defund an area that has been expecting funding, stop paying the workers, and halt all activities, okay. Maybe that saved money, maybe it was a good idea. The results are debatable.

When you go back and fund that same area several weeks later, and resume its activities, you have spent more money impacting its operation with the forced stoppage than if you simply left it alone.

But they were too busy with their 56 futile attempts to repeal Obamacare to actually consider the impact of their grandstanding on the economy.

Well, Warren was a Harvard Law Prof and I'm sure she has a high IQ. That said she is essentially a communist that has views in direct opposition to the Founding Fathers and what made this country great. She also lied about her Native American heritage for personal gain which would normally be enough to end a person's career. In her case the people of Mass. elected her Senator.

She is a poster child of a hypocritical ivory tower liberal that has spent her life criticizing others while never applying any rules to herself.

As to how outsiders might perceive this thread to somehow embarrass the liberal contingent on this board in so much as it reinforces that most Southerners are in fact conservative I DGAF.

My point.

Highly debatable, but irrelevant to the original statement.

FIFY. :)

It's a college town. Most college towns (professors and student body) are liberal, no?

Why do these discussions always devolve into name calling and the mindless invocation of the Founding Fathers. The Founding Fathers fiercely debated the roles of federal and state governments: federalist v. anti-federalist. We are still having the same debate today which is a good thing imo. Name calling is just unnecessary.

Name a positive contribution someone from the republican party has made to the American government in the last 20 years. I will wait....and wait....and wait............
I'd say Gingrich and his House when they made the Arkansas help-humper toe the fiscal line.
Now it's your turn with a democrat....I'm waiting...and waiting...and waiting.

That's because it is what it is supposed to do, there is only one political machine in this country and the two "parties" are the public "good cop bad cop" faces. The face you see as the good cop just depends on what your personal beliefs are but both sides are part of the "frick Americans that make less than $2 million a year" party.

Life ain't to bad for the poor and under income. Free healthcare, free cell phones, free welfare, Come to America and live the dream.

Just don't make above 100k a year because it goes a little bit more like Help us feed the poor, helps us insure the under income, help us shoulder the load of the uneducated or under privileged.

Gingrich last served in a leadership position in the House (minority whip) in January 1995, which puts him outside the last 20 years. This is not an agreement that he accomplished anything, but just an observation of timing.

As to your request for a positive contribution by a democrat, we'll go with the formation of the Consumer Financial Protection Agency which has regulated the financial institutions from predatory lending and high risk investments with federally insured funds.

Damn shame that our laws directly lead to the need to regulate. How long was the corruption allowed before we felt the need to regulate. I wonder who was on watch and which laws directly led to it.
