Very nice areas. But I hope you have one helluva high paying job lined up.

It would be civil/traffic engineering related.

I know that some test kitchens moved there recently.

Between Highlands, Hot&Hot, Bottega, Perry's (a chain but ridiculously fricking good), Ocean, Saterfield.....

It ain't bad for a foodie

Sorry, but those "mountains" look like Hills on steroids. I mean, they're nice, but they just aren't mountains like the ones out west. Even the Franklin Mountains in El Paso (which are considered small by Rocky Mountain standards) is double in prominence than Alabama's tallest mountain. Heck, the Empire State building is taller than the most prominent point in Alabama.

Don't get me wrong, they're nice. But nothing to brag about to people who are from the West. I've taken a piss off of taller canyons than that. To each their own I guess.

Size isn't everything, you know ;)

I rather like the amount of biodiversity we have compared to other places. I like to identify birds and plants, and I'll tell you there's a metric frickton more variety in the East than in the Rockies.

What are your feelings about rain? One has a lot. The other has it only rarely.

Go to Seattle then. Lord knows they need all the traffic engineering help they can get right now...

In all seriousness, my girlfriend is from the Seattle area. We go there every year at least once to visit her family. It's absolutely beautiful, and if you enjoy the outdoors I can't think of a better place to live.

San Diego is nice too, but Seattle wins in a landslide in my opinion.

I mean, I don't think anyone is bragging about their height. It isn't a dick measuring contest.

The difference, as has been posted a couple times, is the age. They're completely different types of mountains. It'd be like me saying I don't like Corvettes because Z71 Silverados are better. Doesn't make any sense. Both have their own qualities.

I live in the Rockies now, but grew up visiting the Smokies frequently. I don't have to pick which I like better, because they're both unique and present different opportunities. Different activities, wildlife, weather, etc...

Alabama's mountains have more football national championships than all of the Rockies combined.

The mountains outside of El Paso are literal mounds of dirt that people get stranded in and die because nothing can survive there. But they are taller than Lookout Mountain, so therefore more "mountain" I guess.

I went to Miami last year, was amazed at the number of homeless people. Every third person was trying to bum money, all sitting around in the restaurants. Some of the highest crime rates in the country are in Florida. (10 of the top 100 crime rates for cities in the US) Mobile home parks on every other corner
