Humans are prone to religious thinking. It's how our minds work. It's possible that Christianity made fade, and Islam too, but we're not about to become enlightened creatures of reason.

Actually, atheism is trending down worldwide while Christianity is essentially level. Islam is skyrocketing worldwide.
That's only through 2050 though.

Do you believe in once saved always saved?
I'll give it a shot.
Yes, but one has to truly be saved. You must surrender your life to Jesus completely, once saved always saved. This is because Jesus died on the Cross one time, and he was perfect in this act. For instance, if you do not believe once saved always saved, then Jesus would have to continually die on the Cross and rise.
Problem with Christians today are these three things imo:
1. Think they are better than others.
We are worse than others, because we know what sin is and still fall daily.
2. They do not forgive for others for public sin, when they themselves may sin far more in private.
Such as, a man cheats on his wife once, asks forgiveness. Other men talk about how terrible he is while they go home, and look at porn and clear the history over and over again.
3. Christians these days are weak, not bold/courageous.
People call themselves Christian, when they literally do nothing in their life to reflect Christ. Also, we aren't showing the love Christ told us to do.
Tl:dr: Yes once truly saved always saved. As a Christian, I think we're doing a terrible job as a nation projecting Christ.

See as much as I hate these mainstream religions We as a human race need them.
Humans need someone or something to believe in that they consider bigger/greater than themselves. The idea of God gives us someone to blame or thank when we need it. But even if we get rid of the religions we have now who is to say we don't make the technology itself into a deity?
Because think about it. If we have another technological boost in these next 100 years we will have advanced A.I. that will be able to act more human than actual humans.
Easily see technology becoming a huge cult/religion
Lol but then again I read too much warhammer 40k books as it is..so I already know how the future goes...and it goes bad if we stop believing in the boogeyman in the darkness.

Yes, religion will likely be non-existent in 500 years because humans will be non-existent in 500 years, probably because of religion.

I don't think religion itself will go away, but I do think that the religions we have now will eventually die out. Given a long enough timeline, most belief systems will fall into disuse, at which point they simply become mythology. There is nothing special about Islam or Christianity that will keep humans in the distant future from looking at them the same way that we look at Greek mythology now.
That being said, I do think that there is an inherent value in spiritual belief. The human psyche is hardwired to strive toward it. Anything that helps people cope, gives them peace and gets them thinking about philosophy and metaphysics in a roundabout way is a good thing.

And this right here is why everyone hates millennials. "We're so special! Everything before we came into existence was wrong!"

Atheist have been around longer than millennials. Your still not special.

Probably, sooner. We're starting to truly become an advanced civilization. The things we're starting to learn, in our short existence, are just now starting (in the last 400 years) to prove wrong the existence of a deity. What we'll know about our earth and universe 500 years from now I think will have long since eradicated any deity system lingering from a time when humans were restricted to earth and searching for answers.
Religion might go away, but Jesus will still be around. Big difference, Imo.

So something that has been around since the start of mankind is going to disappear? That's rich
Not too long ago, the Earth was flat, everything revolved around it, the theory of gravity was heresy, and blood letting was the go-to cure-all.
Surely you can see where science or lackthereof played a role in the impact religion had to explain things not understood.

I mean, by being religious, aren't you gambling as well? What if you pick the wrong one? Why would a higher power possess petty human emotions of jealousy and wrath, both of which make mankind worse off when practiced? To me, a higher power wouldn't condone those emotions for himself or his creation, wouldn't need praise, and would want to see peaceful coexistence and harmony among his creation (which religion makes worse). Of course holy books explain a God would need to be praised, as their rituals were thought to be vital in delivering everything from food to good weather/health.

But at least I have hope. Have a good weekend brother.
