Aside from Brewster's Millions. I've always thought Richard Prior is incredibly over rated. He's just the first dude who cursed like a sailor. Bernie Mac, in my opinion (and that's all any of this is) blows Prior out of the water in every single way.

Once talked to a black comedian and asked him who his favorite comedian is/was. He immediately gave the house answer, Richard Prior. I said "mine's Bernie Mac." He then said "yeah, yeah mine's Bernie Mac also."

Without Pryor, there's no elevated stage set for Bernie Mac or the others. Not overrated at all.

I think having one favorite comedian is kinda silly. Whomever is currently making me laugh is my favorite comedian, whether I'm watching a Pryor or Carlin video, or a Bernie Mac movie.

Who set the stage for Prior? He didn't need anyone to. Someone would have done the same of there was no Prior.

If it's considered black comedy - the Friday movies are some of my favorites.

Redd Foxx and he was hilarious.

Some are great and many are bad. It's such a mixed bag as a genre.

Great ones include:
Coming to America
I'm Gonna Get You Sucka
Undercover Brother
Don't Be a Menace to South Central...
Friday
Death at a Funeral

Bad Ones:
too many to count

I've felt the same about Carlin. I'm not a huge fan of Pryor, but he still blows Carlin out of the water. Carlin just isn't that funny to me.

I think every black person should apologize for Tyler Perry.

Eddie Murphy

"Delirious" and "Raw", while not movies in the conventional sense as it was just Eddie doing stand up comedy, were hilarious. There hasn't been a black comedian since Murphy that is worth mentioning. Dave Chappelle is the only one who is even close.

Ice Cubes movies are alright.

I like Ice Cube as an actor. Both the comedies like Barber Shop (classic) and the more serious movies like "Boys in the hood".

Tyler Perry is so bad it hurts my brain.

"OMG A FAT SUIT AND SOMEONE FALLING DOWN!"

"HAHAHAHAHA AN ANGRY BLACK WOMAN YELLING!"

No offense to those that like it, but its not clever or creative humor. At all. Its embarrassing that those movies do so well.

Now old school Pryor and Murphy movies are titties. Brewsters Millions can be on repeat and I'll be happy.

If we're talking favorite comedians, mine is probably Mitch Hedburg.

I used to do drugs. I still do drugs, but I used to too.

He was a very clever person and his stage fright really helped shape his awkward delivery and made you pay attention to the clever wording of his jokes.

The only way you could respond with that is if you didn't see it. Pure cinematic genius.
