An uncomfortable truth, but you're right

They have to have a very specific habitat to survive. This specific habitat is not natural and is only available in Zoo's and sanctuaries. They gave one a chance outside captivity. Guess what? He died.

Seems like you would need a larger sample size to determine this. If their natural habitat is impossible in the wild, then how do they exist in the first place? Or did we destroy said habitat?

Of course not.

Yeah.

I guess what I mean by that is I think any arbitrary cap on how much money you should spent on "just and animal" is ridiculous. If dogs are just possessions they are my favorite one, and I am willing to sacrifice other possessions to take care of them well into a value measured in thousands.

I don't have a set "cap," per se, but if I'm or my family members are feeling the pinch, Fido won't be sticking around.

Fair enough.

Suffice it to say my threshold is significantly lower

I mean, that was definitely hyperbole. But it's a combination of the species not adapting very well in addition to humans destroying a lot of their habitat.

My dog sheds on my couch like a motherfricker. I need to get leather.

Pandas really are stupid. Other fun facts:

Females only want sex once per year and only during a 2 day period.

They shite as often as 40 times per day.

My dog doesn't shed much and I have leather so I'm kind of speaking from a biased point of view

They're not all cuddly! Man may lose his leg after being attacked by a wild panda as it tried to flee local officials trying to capture it in China.

We should never just allow a species to die out. We should do everything possible to save it. You never know what future benefits some plant or animal may bring to humanity.

I'll never understand this about the environmental ppl. We are not supposed to do ONE SINGLE THING that inteferes with the environment or animals's habitats UNLESS the natural order of things is that a certain species of animal is going extinct then money is no longer an object in repeatedly attempting to keep it in the wild

Really? That's your problem with them? Cuz:

I'm curious to hear what value Pandas bring to any ecosystem, let alone this planet in general.

People should not waste millions of dollars saving a species that God clearly doesn't want here anymore.

300 million radical Muslims say their god doesn't want infidels on his planet anymore. They are implementing and promoting a survival of the fittest plan of their own. Perhaps, you'd like to get in line to be cleansed for that as well.

Since the beginning of life on Earth, species have naturally gone extinct. Who are we to stand in the way of that process?

Aren't you glad your parents didn't share this opinion regarding you as an infant?

After all, babies cost far, far more than thousands and thousands of $$ and they are unable to do anything at all for themsleves...totally and completely dependent upon others and in return you get shitty diapers, spit up on, no sleep, etc, etc..and it will be years and years before that baby can 'contribute'...had your parents shared your line of thought/reasoning, I would not be typing this out right now bc you wouldn't exist to have created the OP.

And by the way..if pandas have never been able to sustain their own continued existance, how are they still around?? Zoos and ppl to work in/ participate in those zoo's initiatives to ensure the survival of the panda species have not always existed...so how the hell did pandas survive on their own until such an establishment was created???

Babies are people.

Animals are not.
