I was prescribed it....I haven't used it for more than a few days at a time because I feel it made things worse.

Just got some acidophilus probiotics from CVS in hopes to fix my gut, and also got selsun blue to use as a face wash because I've read that's helped for some people.

Sometimes Rx's, especially dermatology medications, make it worse before it gets better. It's important to stick with it for the trial period, so you can find what works for you.

Metrogel is just a topical antibiotic, like how I'm taking minocycline as an oral antibiotic. Most qualified dermatologists will tell you that antibiotics only treat the papules and pustules (P&P) of rosacea and not the flushing/permanent redness.

I don't have many P&P and the ones I do have are tiny whiteheads no one would see, and at most I'd have like 2-3 on my face at one time. I don't think antibiotics are for my type of rosacea...which I think is subtype I. P&P is subtype II.

Subtype II is also usually the easiest to treat. The whole condition just sucks arse...

Attempted it twice. 2nd attempt left me with a failing liver. I'll be dead in less than 10 years due to liver failure.

Did you ever use a castille soap?

Used to work with animals especially with skin conditions and it was very good and mild. Often times doctors will go for meds when a good old country doctor may have a much similar and cost effective method

This is the stuff I have used for ages. Smells good too!

It seems that stress would cause you flush, which is likely causing other triggers to make you flush much easier. I would suggest trying to get a xanax prescription because it might help your anxiety and depression...a happier mood may help mitigate the occurrences. Maybe consider moving to an area where it is cooler much of the year so you can enjoy the outdoors more often.

Is there anything you can take to mitigate the pain where if you have a flush, you at least don't feel miserable? Pain killers or something?

frick man I know it has to suck but don't commit suicide. There are always ways to adapt to try to enjoy life. Move somewhere cooler...take a night or evening job where it's cool out and no sun so you can enjoy it more. sleep during the day. Go out at night and have fun. You should be able to get an exemption for your vehicle to put dark tint on it so the sun doesn't bother you when you drive..hell you could get a job driving a truck, black the windows out and run the air all day. See the country. There's always ways to enjoy life no matter the shite it throws at you if you just think of ways where you could lead a normal life and avoid most of the "triggers" that cause you to feel miserable.

Maybe I just need to go back to my GP since dermatologists just want to throw antibiotics at people with this condition.

I don't get the antibiotics. That makes no sense...antibiotics are for infection caused by bacteria. I don't know much about your condition, but it doesn't sound like it's bacterial.

Dude, I'm going to help you out here. All that shite is garbage what you need to do and I'm not bull shitting you is swim laps in the YMCA pool with all those fricking chemicals in it don't shower it off 1 hour three days a week.

Important:

5 days a week for a year spend 10 minutes on high in the tanning bed. I can't explain it, but sun doesn't work the bulbs doo.

Take ZINC supplements, 3000 milligrams of krill/fish oil and get a testosterone booster supplement and switch brands every thirty days.

Six months and your back to being a badass.

Thank me later.

Low dose antibiotics have been proven to be effective for rosacea (at least for reducing P&Ps) at an anti-inflammatory dose. Low enough to not get microbial resistance but there are still negative side effects for taking a low dose antibiotic long term. It hasn't helped my redness because I don't think it's meant to....just getting rid of the acne aspect of rosacea.

A lot of people say that about acne too. Majority of people it clears up completely and they never get back on the boards. Some people say it makes worse. You should talk to your dermatologist about it.

You really need to talk to someone in person and not anonymous people on the web.

I went through a period of my life (about 1 year) where I was going through a mental and physical hell. I'm not going to say that I NEVER thought about it, but I never did consider it.. Unbeknownst to my best friend at the time he really managed to save me from that line of thinking and steer me back into sanity as my health returned. It amazes me that I never told him what was going on (or anybody outside of family for that matter) or never thanked him..

Unfortunately, in a tragic turn of events, just as I was getting clear of the woods, that friend of mine committed suicide himself. So he knew what it was like living with that level of depression. It still haunts me to this day that I was not able to return the blessing he gave to me. At least I was able to tell his parents (tbh the hardest thing I've ever done).

Also, seeing how his family was effected by it made it that much clearer to me.

Check into beta blockers (propranolol).

That should dramatically cut down on the redness and will help with the anxious feelings.

No, he needs a beta blocker. They will assist with stabilizing vascular expansion.

Eta: I take propranolol for flushing/sweating due to anxiety. It's a godsend.
