I'm going through a very debilitating personal health issue right now that's seriously impacting my quality of life. A day hasn't gone by in awhile where I haven't at least thought about killing myself.

I'd probably never do it as I'm too much of a coward...but I'm considering it.

No, I honestly never have.

You should probably really get help if what you say is true.

I highly recommend you speak to a psychologist and psychiatrist. It's not a joke.

There's nothing wrong with asking for help. I've been there.

This isnt a funny topic or one to even slightly troll. if you are having serious thoughts, SECr is not the place for you. You need to reach out to family and medical help. they need to know any of your slightest thoughts on the matter

They won't help the underlying condition. And I couldn't afford it anyway.

I'm pushing my family and friends out of the way because of this. Didn't do thanksgiving with my family, turned down being my brothers best man at his wedding last Sunday (though I forced myself to go as to not regret NOT going), won't do Christmas.

I go to work only out of necessity to make money. If money were no option I don't think I'd leave my apartment again.

Not to pry, but struggling with addiction? There is help out there no matter what is wrong - even if it is just talking to your family. You don't need to deal with it on your own. I know you don't want to do anything crazy or have anything happen and then have your family start to think "what could we have done" and start question themselves too.

Thoughts of suicide, not enjoying things you normally did, feelings of hopelessness are all somewhat common and people have worked through it and continue to do so. Call someone, a family member, a friend, a hotline, anybody and just talk.

Believe it or not, yes.

It's nothing to play with. Get real help, and not the kind you'll get on this site.

Good luck, hope things turn around for the better for you soon, OP.

No, but they could help you cope with it.

Are you college aged? If so check out your campus health center. If not a lot of cities provide free counseling, you just have to look for it. Depending on your condition, your local hospital or doctor may have a suggestion for some group support with people going through a similar issue. Whereabouts do you live? Maybe we can help you find something?

And to answer your question, yes. I was in a pretty dark place after my younger brother passed and if it hadn't of been for needing to take care of my parents, I may very well have. It obviously couldn't bring my brother back, but counseling helped a lot.

I think everyone has had the thought at some point. There's only a problem if you've actually started thinking of ways to do it. Please don't. There are people out there far better than any of us that can help you.

No, nothing like that. It's embarrassing enough for me to even mention on a message board it's a wonder how I go through this everyday seeing people.

I have rosacea that came out of nowhere in July 2015, and was diagnosed September 2015. Prior to that I had an issue with sebhorrheic dermatitis on the sides of my nose in April 2015 that waxed and waned. I still have that too and they are common coexisting conditions of which neither are curable. Symptoms are manageable but nothing I've done is helping and it's getting worse by what seems like the week. Dermatologist was a waste of money, but I've been popping the antibiotics he prescribed me once a day since September 25. Yes I take an antibiotic DAILY as an anti-inflammatory but it's not doing shite.

I know it probably sounds like nothing to you all, but take a minute and read some of these life snippets from people suffering with it....

Here's a link:

LINK

I feel TERRIBLE complaining about it especially when I see the stories of kids/people like Sid Ortis. But this is ruining my quality of life. Doubt anyone will understand as its so misunderstood and not well known.

I haven't. I could live inside my head and be completely entertained. I've been in bed almost a week after knee surgery, and am learning a log online and enjoying being alive.

I've been through some pretty shitty things, and never considered it. Death of a child would be one thing that could cause me to consider it.

I understand exactly what you're going through- or at least more than anyone else that might tell you it's nothing.

Getting personal here, but my close friend sweats a lot and it's really hard to see him deal with it. At first I had no idea what to do, other than telling him it wasn't a big deal. That only made it worse because it made him feel even more embarrassed by it. It IS a big deal if it's a big deal to you. He can't go anywhere without mentally preparing himself beforehand (how long we have to walk, how hot it will be, ect.) so he's suffering in the same way you are

He's so deadset on trying to find a biological explanation for it that he's missing the point, which is understandable. What I've tried to do is get him help for the psychological aspect of it.

There may not be an easy cure for you. What you need is help adjusting your mindset about it. I really hope you can find some. If you're going to college, there are resources available.

Well my condition has completely changed my personality. I don't want to look people in the eyes anymore, my head is always down. Lack of ambition at work, at a job I hate and make shite pay at. I had an interview in October for another job and though I didn't feel I was flushing I walked out and looked at myself through my cellphone camera and my cheeks were so embarrassingly red. I can only imagine what they were thinking as I interviewed.

I've been out of most of my social interactions with friends.

The bad part is, I'm only a half a year or so into this and it'll only get worse. A lot of people on this rosacea message board I go to would probably kill to look like I do right now.

It is what it is....I just get so pissed about how I got all of the shitty genes and my brother is fine. I got the fair skin, light hair and blue eyes that typifies most rosacea sufferers. My brother got darker skin, hair and brown eyes.

No one else in my family has this, not even my mom who my looks take after to the T. Lots of places say it's 50/50 genetic and environmental factors that contribute.

I can't even go play basketball like I used to with friends every Friday night. I'll turn too red. I fricking hate this shite.

Doesn't matter what it sounds like to anyone else. All that matters is what it feels like to you. We're individuals, and things impact each of us differently.

I want to join in what all the others have said. Seek out help and don't shut out your family and friends.

Check out some intense pulse light treatments with an esthetician at a plastics or derm health spa. I got a similar thing going on. Some rosacea and I am way too old to be getting acne at my age, but I started getting these goddamn semi permanent red marks from it that are like hyperpigmentation that I never had before. I guess it's age or I was drinking too much. It's weird watching your physical appearance fall apart. If you told me a few years ago I would be getting skin treatments like an old lady, I would have laughed at you.

Yeah, keep it in perspective that people have it way worse. My buddy at work has a daughter with a one in a million condition that required multiple surgeries. Even he is grateful that she is better off than much of what he saw at the U of Michigan Children's Hospital. And if you want to read real depression about looks, just browse the acne.org boards.

Anyway, yeah, a combo of therapist and psychiatrist can't hurt on the mental side of things.

I'm 27 and have been out of college since 2010. I couldn't imagine going into classrooms everyday with this affliction. Some of the stories in the link I shared are actually of college aged kids with this disease that actually dropped out of school because of it.

I basically go to a job I hate and am not passionate about every day while my supervisor who is terrible at his job patrols the halls and stresses me out more, then go home and play video games on my computer.

I've always been a gamer too, and even some of that activity causes flushing or intense heat sensations from my face. Maybe it's the overexcertion of my mind as I'm playing and concentrating too much. Horror games make me flush like crazy.

It's stripping me of everything I enjoy doing in life.

God forbid I sit in Williams-Brice on a hot September day to watch a football game anymore.
