Hello,

How are you doing? Hope all is well with you and I pray this email finds you in good health. I am sorry that I didn't tell you about me leaving for this Conference here in Phillipines.

I really hate to ask you but I need favor from you because i misplaced my wallet on my way to the hotel where my money and other valuable things were kept.I really need a loan urgently. I will be needing the sum of $3,350 to sort-out my hotel bills and get myself back home.

I will appreciate whatever you can afford to help me with, i'll pay you back as soon as i return. Kindly let me know if you can be of help? so that i can send you the details to use when sending the money via Western Union Money Transfer.

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Robert

Please tell me that there is not one single person on the planet that this has ever worked on. There can not be one human in todays world that would respond.

Am I wrong?

That one's different because it doesn't promise a financial windfall. If it just came from some random address, I doubt it would work but if they change it to a spearphishing attempt by spoofing the sender/signature and removing the Philippines reference it would rake them in by the droves.

The straight out Nigerian bank scam e-mail has been around for 20 years or more and snares folks on a daily basis.

A guy that works for us on the farm sends 200-400 dollars to Africa to this girl who needs "money to come to America" and promises to be his gf and sends him all kinds of sexy pics over text and calls his phone sweet talking and making excuses why she hasn't made it and needs more money. He has fallen for it for over a year now and won't listen when I tell him it's a scam. This guy makes maybe 400 bucks a week and has thousands of dollars in medical bills because he smokes too much and has heart issues

I almost wonder if this is not just a "email confirmation" search.. They dont give any details, just asking you to respond. Once you respond, they know the email addy is legit then you get on a "list"

The best one I've seen lately takes addresses of actual houses for sale, then fake rents them on Craigslist. They rush people into paying a deposit to hold the lease and uses bible verses as signature quotes on emails.

They're KILLING IT in the south..

Primarily you're correct. The probe for cash is there just in case some people are retarded enough to do it.
