Milledgeville, GA is a nice college town on the lake. As far as the job market goes, it's not a big place, but it's the county seat. Also, it's about 30 minutes to commute to Macon which has lots of jobs (but I wouldn't live there).

I believe good public schools are in his criteria. If he's interested in that area, he'd be much better off in jones County or even Montoe Co. IMO.
