No. He sprinkled fairy dust on cowboy boots and used a generic pop formula to sell to a mindless mainstream that prefers music to leave no mysteries, no poetic elements to figure out, no real true pain to feel.

He's a Disney character.

LOL at not getting the point.

Being an entertainer is not a relevant point when trying to pursued someone that he's a good country artist.

Rascal Flats is an entertaining event. It's not good music.

You and I wouldn't agree on many topics, but I'm right there with you on this one.

Yeah it is. To me, no. Apparently not to you either.

But it's an entertaining event. It's a big production. This isn't about the music. Never mind, grasping this concept seems to be too much for you.

We enjoyed watching it.

A lot of people say he's what ushered in the Rascal Flats, Kenny Chesney's, and Jason Aldeans of country but I don't see it.

Very original artist that had songs that have stood the test of time. Best entertainer in country music.

Do you think time will look back on the other current artist in country as kindly as it does GB?

He made it more mainstream, but that doesn't mean he's the one that ruined it. Those that came after it and the generation that ate up Honkey Tonk Ba donk, She thinks my Tractor's sexy, and Dirt Road anthem are to blame.

I love how you always result to trying to insult someone's intelligence when that person doesn't agree with you.

Garth Brooks is not like the others in that he is not a flash in the pan. He is still loved and many songs have stood the test of time.

Tim McGraw isn't a flash in the pan either. And he is one of country music's worst offenders. Aldean isn't exactly new to the scene either.

IMO the folks that have perpetuated the Rascal Flatt's of the world (i.e. the producers, label owners/execs) are the worst offenders. Country has been crossing over to mainstream on and off for a very long time. I don't think you can pinpoint one artist as the chief offender. And GB has been more true to country than most since.

Do I like all of his stuff? Not particularly. But the hate is a bit silly. Of course some people will hate anything that goes mainstream.

Good lord. Country music is as mainstream as any music in the world and has been for decades. People act like it's some kind of underground punk scene.

Country music has lost the twang sound and the soul/storytelling lyrics that made it awesome. Waylon, Cash, Merle, Jones, Willie, Hank put country on the map in popularity.

Artists immediately after like Clint Black, Alan Jackson, George Strait etc did a good job keeping it real. Also women country artists like Reba, Patty Loveless, Judds, etc deserve some credit.

Then the Rascal Flatts, Tim Mcgraws, Aldeans of country music came along and ruined it..and it has gotten progressively worse. I can't listen to any of the new music..every song is just " I ride backroads, drink beer, drive a truck, durr hurr"

I agree with your post. I blame it more in Tim McGraw and Keith Urban than I do Garth.

I trace the end of traditional country music to the release of "Indian Outlaw". That song killed country music.
