Well considering I'm going to be a father for the first time and I've got another store opening up I'm not promising anything

Everyone's different. But you probably need to be more determined than that

Smoked from 16-23. Often a pack and a half a day. Maybe 2 if I was drinking. Decided to quit one day and slowly started cutting back until I was able to go cold turkey from 3 or 4 a day.

roxicodone. They don't make oxycontin anymore so you don't see it much. I say it that way because most people don't know what roxies are.

If you smoke less than about 10 cigs a day, you are not physically addicted, only psychologically. I don't know what the equivalent for dip is.

You can get those from one night of heavy smoking

You can get those via multitasking. Like I won't smoke any more while playing BF3 on my xbox because I'll get stains on my fingers when smoking my normal brand, Camel Wides.

Easy to get rid of though, little vinegar and a warm dishrag.

Cigarettes aren't the problem. Dipping is ridiculously hard to quit.

anyways...I'm pretty bummed out. I found out that my brother started taking methadones again. we all thought he had beat the addiction. he was clean for 3 years. he took meds to slowly come off of it. we recently found out that he cleaned my 80 year old grandmother out of 1,000 to 2,000 dollars in 3 months to support his addiction. he kept going over to her house to visit a lot and found a way to steal and return her debit card without her noticing. she has a lot of money , but he's still a real POS.

I dipped pretty regularly from 16 to 22. Now I only do it at sporting events, long car rides, and when I'm drunk. I don't crave it any other time, and never really have. It's more about the oral fixation for me. I've always been able to go days on end without it, even when I was dipping somewhat consistently. Sometimes I just enjoy a good dip after a few beers or a heavy meal.

Gonna be real here. You will likely fail as you're already setting yourself up with and excuse. I don't mean that to be mean spirited or an arse.

I tried to quit several times before I finally did for good. Each time I "tried", I had an excuse as to why it just wasn't a good time or why something just happened that made it too tough. The other set up to fail, is to try to quit for someone else.

You'll quit when you're really ready to. I smoked 17 yrs, from the age of 15 til 32. Dad had a heart attack that yr. The same afternoon, I threw away 2 new packs of smokes, stayed busy to keep from idle time and made sure I had plenty of gum. Hardly any withdrawels. IMO, it basically comes down to want to, and will power. Everything else is just mind games.

eta - didn't see this before typing the above:

When I quit I missed it everyday. I love it. If I get drunk it only gets worse. Nothing beats a good whiskey drunk and then getting a dip.

Drugs like methadone and suboxone piss me off. All it is is replacing one dangerous and highly addictive drug with a slightly less dangerous and equally addictive drug that government says is okay.

Send your brother off to rehab. The only way he'll ever get clean is to quit cold turkey and get through the withdrawals. Don't do it unless he wants to though. A drug user will never get clean unless the WANT to get clean, which unfortunately takes hitting rock bottom in most cases. If he doesn't want it he'll relapse every time.

I hope that getting caught stealing from granny can be his rock bottom and make him realize what he's doing. Best of luck to your bro and your family
