Maybe it was Washington, I'm not certain.

Krotz Springs was just nasty about their speeding trap, and it's embarrassing, because it's like, 45 minutes outside of BR. The speed limit on 190 out there is 65, but when you get into town, it drops to 35.

The speed limit sign may or may not be up, and there is no warning about the massive drop in speed.

Golden Meadow..................my god. Just cross the bayou and drive on the other side.

I don't know if that's really fair. I have a couple good friends that are cops, and they were guys that got married young, had kids young, and needed a way to provide for their family.

And where else can you get the benefits and retirement package they get with a high school degree?

I would agree with you on a lot of small-town departments though, most of those jackholes aren't even POST-certified.

Any time there's a wreck on the basin bridge Krotz Springs prints money. Which is like a once a week occurrence.

On the other side of BR, St. Gabriel is pretty bad as a speedtrap. So was Sorrento until they lost the insurance for their police dwpartment. I'm sure that bulldyke cop got them sued numerous times.

there are other jobs that offer the same type of benefits as cops without making them douches

I heard the black cop bragging about all the complaints against him one day when I was at the shell

livingston doesn't get enough shite for being a bullshite speed trap town. They are always hanging out on i-12 trying to get speeders. I hope every speed trap town burns to the ground

All the crazy shite I did on Plaquemine Point as a teenager, I should have a respectable rap sheet, and I never got so much as a ticket.

I just figured they had too many meth labs to bust to really be hard up on speeders. They're all fricking skinheads out there though. I've yet to meet a LPSO who wasn't shaven bald.

Take-home vehicle (even if you live a parish over), retirement after 20 years, FULL benefits after 30, free bullets, which is awesome when shooting sports are basically turning into a recreational activity, like golf.

Sure, a lot of government positions offer those kind of retirement benefits, but when you're a 20 year old from Bunkie, La, and your choices are become a cop or leave town forever..........you could do a lot worse.

Walker use to be extremely bad about posting up right off their exist and popping people but now its moved down a few exits to the actual town of Livingston. Yea, I don't think i have ever seen a cop or sheriff out that way that wasn't bald.

French settlement has 2 fricking chargers for their police department and they just pop people on the back roads

Who could've foreseen a century ago that there would be entire towns financed by speed traps

id bet half the towns in LA and Mississippi are financed by speed traps. I saw at least 12 sheriffs hanging out on the interstate in Mississippi on my way home from panama.

My dad always did side stuff when he wasn't on shift, his friend actually cuts grass on the side and makes a killing doing it

The problem is that most small town departments shouldn't exist, and don't really have the funding. So, the department responds by illegally patrolling interstates to gather revenue.

I have friends that are firefighters too. You definitely have more time to do something on the side that you love, but it's a much more dangerous job.

thats why I said real men do that instead of beat down citizens rights. I could never be a cop, Id be too disgusted with all the menial bullshite and the insanely horribly people id have to work with. Firefighter is my back up plan that I can always fall back on if I need it

I'm not gonna lie, I tried to get on with BRFD twice and failed both times.

I could probably get on with the St. George Fire Protection District, an old friend is a Lieutenant, but I think I've decided I don't want to spend the rest of my life in Louisiana.

Yea, Im really considering leaving LA at least for a few years. However, I could always come back and do the BRFD thing if everything fell apart
