In other words, you tried it a few times and it was too hard.

No, I tried it a few times, had some beginner's luck success, but the game failed to deliver the thrill most other sports do

I'd rather bowl or play tennis. Golf is boring.

And dumb.

It's not a game meant to provide thrill. It's a game for the patient. If you're not a patient person, you won't enjoy it.

Eta just saw your edit. Love tennis and bowling as well.

I'm patient enough to play chess.

If I'm going to be up and walking around to play a "sport," I'd rather be more physically active

Hence, why golf is dumb.

I notice you also left out this phrase you used: "maybe we have too much freedom"

If it walks like big government and talks like big government...

quote:

Hypocrisy and mendacity should be a crime when perpetrated by the main stream media and hollywood. Hollywood gets away with murder under the guise of "creative license." Same goes for revisionist history.

This is why you're a statist.

I'm not really surprised you completely missed the point. Not every golf course is a private club that costs $60 to play a round. Public courses in Nashville are very affordable.

Like most things that were once only for the rich, golf is affordable in its current state.

But the best courses DO cost a lot to play on, unlike say bowling where I can go to the best alley in town for maybe 2x the cheap one.

And course fees aren't most of the cost. Poor people can't afford a bag of nice clubs.

You say golf doesn't provide a thrill but go on to say you'd rather bowl?

Both can be done fairly well with little effort all the while being able to pound beers with your buddies.

Walk 18 sometime and see how physically active you are. Or don't. I don't really care you're not going to offend me with your views on golf. I'm not some advocate for the game. I just enjoy playing with friends. None of us suck though, so that helps.

Done it. Not even mildly difficult. Unless you're out of shape to begin with

Not trying to offend you

If I'd wanted to do that, I'd say the lakers are dumb.

Which, of course, they are

What does that have to do with earning the right to play golf? Trump essentially said golf should be a sport for the rich. Do you agree with that?

I forget you live in TX. Walking 18 in TN can be tough. A lot m of the courses I frequent have the word "Hills" in their name. It's like playing a tedious game while on a fairly rigorous hike

You don't need nice clubs to play golf. That's a fallacy. Golf clubs can be passed down as well. Mine were.

Again though, you're missing the point. Do most that play golf have he means to do so? Yes. Does that mean they should only be allowed to play golf because they earned the right? No.

You're arguing over how expensive golf is which has nothing to do with Trump's quote or my point.
I'm curious if you've even read the quote I'm referencing.

Nah never have. I'd like to though. My future in laws play there often. I live in Nashville so that's quite the haul.

Never heard of the TX Hill Country, huh?

The hilly courses I've been on were in Missouri and Virginia, though

Walking 18 holes is not difficult. At all.
