I have my security settings set pretty tight. I am purposely not friends with any of my coworkers because my Assistant Chief has a FB account for the sole purpose of friending employees so that he can monitor their shite.

During our hiring process, it's common for the Board to have the applicant log in to their FB account, then peruse it for questionable material during the interview.

This is why I have two separate Facebooks, yo.

That's not supposed to happen online, man.

I feel like you're breaking a code somewhere, somehow

I didn't really care if you supported me to begin with. I'm not looking through my Soldiers' profiles for the express purpose of being nosey or trying to find out exactly what they do in their off duty hours...I don't really care. I mean, yea I want to know what's going on with them, how they're doing, their interests and whatnot...but I want them to tell me those things, I shouldn't have to FB stalk them.

I was looking more to make sure that they weren't doing dumb stuff for the world to see, if I can see it then anyone can.

I rarely post anything on FB. I'm also FB friends with my elderly relatives, so anything that I do post is pretty benign. I really wouldn't care if my Assistant Chief saw it somehow. I mainly just like to keep my personal life separate from the Police Department.

I'm in a peculiar circumstance because I live outside of America, and so my only means of direct, fast contact with friends and family is through Facebook.

I have one Facebook dedicated to being vocal about certain subjects, and then another that I consider my "professional" Facebook for my students.

And EDIT: now surprise interviews.

Our job blocks access to everything that's not work related or weather.com on the computers.

Everyone looks at it on their phones though.

That seems a bit overboard for most companies.

I just assume everything I say online is something I would stand by if I had to.

No. My boss has more important things to do. Besides, I make my budget numbers plus some.
