I found this place during the conventions because the politics board that's on the site. I'll keep my political views over there and introduce myself.

I'm a 35 year old interim pastor/youth minister father of four. I was raised right and proud of it but I won't bash you over the head with it at the same time.

I just wanted to ask the question "Does nobody care anymore?" and not be talking about Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump.

Just in general, are we in this country, and in this chat room, deciding to not care and just let morals given to us by our parents end with us, and not reach our children? Are we just giving up on how we were raised? And giving up before our kids can be fully raised in a good atmosphere? My good friends wife said, in our thursday night small group, that she doesn't know anymore if it's not alright to be gay.

"Not sure if it's not alright"

Have we just decided to give up? Had enough of the fight? Not sure if it's not alright.

Well get sure!

When did it get so bad to have an opinion about something? You're allowed to be sure without feeling like you have to feel guilty all the time.

So because she's opening her mind to things outside of your cultish religion, she's spiraling into moral decay?

I know you didn't say that outright but you definitely implied it.

You say you were raised "right" and I'm assuming you mean "Christian", but what makes that right?

If you had been born in Iraq or Afghanistan you likely would have been raised Muslim and that would be "right" to you.

"Right" has nothing to do with religion and everything to do with just generally not being a shitty person.

Yes, we still care. It just so happens that our morality no longer aligns with your archaic bullcrap.

Yellow = Christians
Blue = Non-christians
Green = morals

Sorry to break it to you, but you don't monopolize it.

When a same sex couple starts having an impact on me being able to pay for my lake house or my farm, I'll care about it.

Beyond that, I don't give a shite......Neither should you.

Why do you worry about what others do in their private lives if it doesn't affect you? What they do is between God and them. I have enough to worry about with my own family that I don't need to worry about who's sleeping with whom.

That's all fine for y'all for those who gays don't effect, but what happens when a gay couple wants me to perform their wedding ceremony? A service I offer and depend on for income?

-If I do it I lose my ordination with my church and the Southern Baptist Convention.

-If I don't do it, but do it for hetero couples (which I do), I could lose my ability to perform wedding services and be slandered online and in my community.

When in Rome, speak like a romain. I have less problems in the values we give words and more problems with the values we're just simply giving up.

But you're right, I shouldn't have said that. I'm sorry.

No it's not about fitting in, you're right though, I shouldn't have said it.

I'm a Christian who truly doesn't "care" in the way that you seem to. The reality is people are going to seek/find meaning in their lives in a variety of ways. Some religious, some not. Some Christian, some not. Some your denomination, some not.

Morals are simply not going to apply across the board, for a variety of reasons. I can disagree with someone without thinking that they're automatically a menace to society or people of faith.

I'm always ready to give an answer for my beliefs, but if someone doesn't want to live their life the way I feel God has called me to live mine, that's between that person and God. Just be a friend regardless.

As for the gay thing, it's high time some Christians quit acting like it's some unpardonable sin. There are gay Christians. They are going to heaven. Dwi.

You're a good writer, but there's no place in the bible for the openness on some topics you're talking about. Either God is or isn't important enough to you. Just my .02¢.

You make your choice and deal with the outcome.

Carry on.

Be specific. What are you talking about?

quote:

Either God is or isn't important enough to you.

What does this even mean?

Obviously God is important to me. I think it's more important that we show His love for others through our own actions and let Him be the judge instead of ourselves.

He also said gluttony is wrong, and a LOT of fatties find their ways into the pews on Sunday morning

If sin is sin in God's eyes, then why do we rack and stack it in traditional church rhetoric?

If a person confesses with their mouth and believes in their heart that Jesus Christ is their Lord and Savior, they are going to heaven. No matter what you think about it. No matter where they stick their dick when they go home. God made that call a long time ago.

Also......wassup, Stacked?

As a born and raised southern baptist christian....I care waaaaaaaaaay more about how I'm in conflict with the scripture than what the other guy is doing wrong.

I mind my business. I live my life. My faith is not a secret to any of my friends....but until I hear the same amount of sermons about gluttony, greed and sloth... I'm not going to get too worked up over something like what my gay friends are doing.
