I do some of these things with the dog I have now.
For a long time when I was running a horse ranch alone in the middle nowhere she was my only companion so I think a little more of her than most other dogs I've had

I talk to my dogs the same way I talked to my kids, with loving authority. It constantly surprises me how much they understand (the dogs), especially when they want something.

They talk back with body language. I've learned a lot from them regarding that subject. I've always had a problem understanding people's body language.

<----- guilty as charged

The talking part, not the masturbation add-on.

i agree they definitely communicate back. our dog has a glass water bowl and whenever it's empty she will tap it with her paw to make it ring then wait there while i pick it up and fill it with water. also she "talks" to us when she wants to play. it's not a bark or whine but more of a humming sound (kinda like huskies do)

This, and it's even worse because I'm married with no kids. The dogs are our fricking babies. "aww, did you want attention from mommy?"

I avoid contact with dogs unless it is unavoidable. Not my favorite species, mainly because their human owners insist they are human.
